Will Courtney Love Replace Paula Abdul on American Idol?

Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe called Courtney Love’s office last week inquiring into whether she would be interested in sitting in as a judge on the hit FOX show.

"He called," Love says. "He was wondering if I was interested. I thought it was kind of weird but brilliant."

A source says that Lythgoe was considering having Love "replace Paula Abdul."

American Idol reps could not immediately be reached for comment.

It’s entirely possible. Abdul again today was still speaking out about several interviews she had where she was appeared to be drunk. Abdul signed a 3 year contract recently, and her bad publicity may cause her to get kicked to the curb. There can’t be four judges because that would create a tie. The question is, can Love actually keep sober enough herself to meet her obligations.

My pick to replace Abdul is Ian Benardo. The guy is a bigger trash talker than Simon, and he’d even tell the contestants to "F*** Off!" It would be like injecting a little Jerry Springer into American Idol. Of course they’d have to rename the show, "Trashy Idol."
