What I Am Listening to Right Now

When I was younger I was a big Pink Floyd fan. I know everything about the band, their lost member before they hit it big, and their legal battle over use of the name Pink Floyd.

Pink Floyd did a lot of concept albums meant to be played in their entirety. Their music was very original, and a bit depressing, but still the musical creativity was what I craved. In fact, creativity is something I still search for, and find in the most unusual places, not so much in the mainstream, which is why I embrace the Internet everyday.

This song in the two part video below is called Shine on You Crazy Diamond and is a tribute to founding member Syd Barrett who left the band in 1968 after mental illness took away his ability to function. Drugs like LSD made the mental illness worse, at least in his case. The band paid tribute to Syd it seems on every album.

I normally listen to much more upbeat music, but I’ve been working way too much on other projects, like night and day for the past few months, and I needed something to bring me back from the edge.

After this it’s time for something more uplifting. Salty then sweet.
