Tyra Banks Lawsuit

Beverly McClendon is the mother of Jewel McClendon, and she is suing the Tyra Banks show. Jewel appeared on the Tyra Banks show to talk about her s*x addiction when she was only 15 years-old. Jewel forged her mother’s signature on the release forms for the show, who then flew her, and a young male to escort her to the show, but never verified that the mother signed the documents herself, or even that the mother was alive and breathing.

Now Beverly is suing the Tyra Banks show for $3 million dollars for exploiting her daughter in front of a national audience. Jewel is now 17 years-old.

The mom appears to have a rock solid case. The show did no due diligence to verify the mother’s permission, despite the fact they were dealing with a 15 year-old. The only question here is if the payout should be $3 million dollars or another figure.

In the picture above the host mistakenly thought the woman sitting beside jewel was her mother, but it is in fact an attorney. (Check out the interview video below.) The mother is sitting between the two attorneys, and not next to her daughter who she should be providing support to. Beverly and Jewel do not appear to be close, which appears to be the root of Jewel’s issues, and a problem this lawsuit will only make worse. In fact, the judge should put the money into a trust for Jewel, pay the attorneys with part of it, and give the mother nothing.
