News broke today that the plane crash that killed four people, and severely burned Travis Barker and DJ AM, aka Adam Goldstein, may have been caused by a blown tire. Here’s more:

Federal aviation officials are saying the tires on the doomed Learjet that crashed last month in South Carolina shredded as the plane ran out of runway.

The crash killed four people and injured former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity disc jockey DJ AM.

The National Transportation Safety Board said Wednesday that very little rubber was left on the jet’s wheels and the brakes were severely damaged when the plane crashed on takeoff just before midnight Sept. 19.

The plane’s cockpit voice recorder has indicated that crew members thought a tire blew as they hurtled down the runway before failing to abort the takeoff.

Barker and DJ AM suffered severe burns in the crash. Both have been released from the hospital are expected to fully recover.

A blown tire is what caused the fiery Concorde plane accident just before they retired those aircraft.

The blown tire is not new. Investigators are just now making this the official cause of the accident.
