tiger woods car crash 1 Tiger Woods Protects Wife Elian Nordegren from Police

Tiger Woods accident over the weekend is being investigated aggressively by the Florida Highway Patrol. At the center of the investigation is Elin Nordegren, aka Elin Woods, who is suspected of violently attacking Tiger which led to him hitting a tree and a fire hydrant in the neighbor’s yard after leaving his driveway.

Police have tried to talk to Tiger over several days, but Tiger has refused to make himself available, however Tiger did release this official statement on his web site:

"As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I’m pretty sore."

"This situation is my fault, and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again."

"This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible."

"The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false."

"This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be."

There have been rumors that police have visited the hospital that treated tiger for his facial lacerations, and make sure he was okay after he could not remain conscious when emergency workers arrived at the scene of his accident. Rumors that police obtained a search warrant to get a look at Tiger’s medical records have so far proven to be false, although police did visit the hospital to talk to staff. Police may be trying to obtain video tape footage taken by Tiger’s security cameras to see what may have happened just before the accident.

The big glaring question is why Elin chose to break the back window of the SUV if the crash only damaged the right front of the vehicle on the passenger side. Tiger’s driver side door did not appear to be damaged in any way, making it clearly possible for Elin to open the door to get Tiger out. There is also the question as to how Elin could have drug Tiger out of the SUV over the seats, and all the way out of the back, and laid him in the street if Tiger could not stay conscious.

There is another report today that indicates Elin may have confronted Tiger over published reports that Tiger allegedly had an affair with Rachel Uchitel, who denies the affair. Uchitel hired lawyer Gloria Allred to defend her against cheating allegations.

The report continues by saying a source says Tiger tried to leave after Elin confronted him, and possibly scratched his face. Elin is then said to have ran out to Tiger’s car with a golf club as he was driving away, and busted out the back window with the golf club, which severely distracted Tiger causing his to drive into the neighbor’s fire hydrant and tree next door to his driveway. This sounds like what happened based on the details we’ve see and heard.

Elin also has another problem, she didn’t call 911 when Tiger crashed his SUV on Friday morning, a male neighbor did who told the dispatcher:

"I need an ambulance immediately, I have someone down outside my house. It’s a car accident. My neighbor, he hit the tree. I see him and he’s laying down."

When the dispatcher asked if the person was unconscious, the neighbor responded, "Yes."

A source says Elin told police she went looking for Tiger in a golf cart, came upon the accident, and then used a golf club to break the window to gain entry to the SUV to free Tiger who was stuck inside.

According to another source, Elin told Windemere police she had walked out of her house, saw the crash, went back inside to get a golf club and returned to the vehicle.

According to a witness, Tiger had a cut on his lower lip when emergency responders and witnesses arrived. The wound was bloody.

Tiger was wearing shorts, a t-shirt and no shoes. It’s illegal in Florida to drive without shoes.

Tiger was lying on the ground unconscious when EMT workers arrived. They used "pain stimulus," a method where pressure is applied on an unconscious person to make them alert, but Tiger only briefly opened his eyes and then lost consciousness.

EMTs asked Tiger’s wife, Elin Nordegren, if Tiger was taking any medications. She went in the house and brought out two pill bottles. She said she did not know when he had last taken the meds.

According to the report, Elin was extremely upset and was told twice by paramedics to stand back while they tended to her husband.

Tiger could be charged with a DUI if he was driving while under the influence of medication, however, it appears police are far more interested in determining if this is a case of domestic violence, and determining if Elin attacked Tiger so viscously that he crashed his car.

Tiger certainly appears to have gone on the defensive very early by releasing a statement where he takes full responsibility for the accident. If Tiger was the only person responsible for the accident, he wouldn’t have to say so, unless he’s protecting his abuser.

You hit the nail on the head and unless Tiger recants/redacts his story pointing the finger at his wife, Elin, that she was responsible for his injuries and the damage to the Escalade and fire hydrant, et al, he will rue the day he did not do so when he’s looking across from her in family court later as they’re fighting over custody of the two kids.
