Taylor Swift Recalls Her Awkward School Years

Taylor Swift told Tiger Beat magazine:
"The best thing you can do in school is to not try to be too cool. My friends and I took pride in the fact that we were the weirdest girls at our school. We never fit in with the cool girls, because we didn’t really care what people thought. We had so much fun goofing off and being being crazy. We would go out to dinner in our prom dress, accessorized with scarves, fingerless gloves, and costume jewelry. Sometimes we’d draw a beauty mark on our faces, wear a tiara and funny slippers. We didn’t care!"
Caring about what people think of you can help guide you down the right path in life. Not caring what people think of them, and not conforming to the standards of society, is something that criminals, outcasts, and misfits do. Taylor may dream of being weird, but it’s only a delusional state of mind. She’s actually a trend setter.
I don’t agree with your statement. In fact it is because teenagers think too much about what other people think about them that they become peer pressured into doing things they wouldn’t like to do like drugs sex and alcohol. In fact so many young girls are obsessed about what they look like that it becomes unhealthy where they become bulimic/anorexic because they feel they have to be the “model” girl to fit in.
Taylor Swift i think is sending out a positive image that as long as your happy you don’t need to be what everyone else wants you to be. Just be yourself
You make a good point, however, the peer pressure can come from understanding and loving parents who set a good example as a form of peer pressure. Teenagers like Swift, and the Jonas Brothers, conform to their parent’s expectations, as well as to the peers they associate with. The teenagers you are describing usually have parents with poor communication skills, and peers that are outcasts, so they too become dysfunctional outcasts with poor communication skills, and develop a rebellious attitude because they are not exhibiting acceptable behavior.
