TMZ is speculating that John Mayer and Mandy Moore may be the latest musicians (cough) to couple up.

The "Chocolate Rain" singer was spotted out in SoHo yesterday having lunch with Mandy Moore, who was in town for the premiere of her new movie, "Dedication."

The frumpy pair (is that a potato sack she has on?) would make sense as a couple — she likes funny guys with good musical taste (Zach Braff) and he likes women.

However, Us Magazine has reported that Mandy Moore says that they have been "friends for years."

Just in case, it’s always handy to come up with one of those annoying couple monikers.  Johndy?  Maymoore?  Or perhaps just "Milk Toast."

Zach Braff is about to land a big payday, as long as his hospital comedy "Scrubs" gets renewed by NBC for a seventh season.

The actor has cut a one-year deal with "Scrubs" producer ABC TV Studio that will pay him about $350,000 per episode for the 2007-08 season of "Scrubs," sources said. Each season consists of about two dozen episodes.

Braff’s deal is contingent on NBC picking up the show for a seventh year, which is expected, notwithstanding its lowly season-to-date viewership of 6.9 million people, according to Nielsen Media Research. If so, Braff’s new deal would place him among the highest-paid male actors on television, alongside "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen, whose paycheck also is in the $350,000-per-episode range.

Representatives for Braff and the production company declined comment.

Braff is the anchor of the ensemble on "Scrubs," playing the amiable young doctor John "J.D." Dorian. Braff’s star has been on the rise during the past few years thanks to "Scrubs" and the strong response to his auteur turn as writer, director and star of the 2004 indie romantic comedy "Garden State." His upcoming projects include a starring role in the comedy "The Ex," and he is slated to star and direct the drama "Open Hearts" for Paramount Pictures.

Drew Barrymore insists she loves her single life, but just weeks after her split with Fabrizio Moretti, she already has tongues wagging. Barrymore, who hosted "SNL" last weekend, and Zach Braff "were very into each other" during the after-party at Sapa, sources said. They said Barrymore spent the night in the corner with Braff and "they were really focused on each other." Another spy said the stars’ friends are blabbing that they’re "definitely dating." A-listers who toasted the host included Cameron Diaz, Jimmy Fallon, and Ed Norton. A rep for Barrymore says, "There is no romance between Drew and Zach. They are simply friends."

Mandy Moore (22) and DJ AM (33) (Adam Goldstein) snapped kissing in public at the Sundance Film Festival. A source says "the pair is "definitely" a couple. The source adds that the couple are "happy" and "the cutest the thing you’ve ever seen."

The couple partied together Saturday night at Park City, Utah’s Sundance Film Festival, where Moore’s film Dedication is showing.

"Mandy was performing songs from her new album, and the last song was ’Gardenia,’" a source said. "DJ was standing in the corner drinking P.i.n.k. Vodka and smiling. He was singing along. He clearly had heard the song before, and the album isn’t even out yet!"

Furthermore, Moore and AM were spotted hanging out together during the festival at the Prime Steakhouse on Main Street. The couple, along with six other friends, sat next to each other and dined for at least two hours, drinking wine, and smiling at each other.

Moore has been claiming she has been depressed for a while. I don’t buy it. Just the other day Moore’s ex Zach Braff claimed he has mild depression. I don’t believe it’s a coincidence. Moore looks pretty happy all the time, and even more so with DJ AM. Looks like DJ AM can keep those DJ fees high now that he’s bagged another celebrity girlfriend.

Jessica Biel and Zach Braff took Biel’s dogs for a walk at Griffith Park in Los Angeles over the weekend. Not a couple, but I’m sure Braff is in fantasy overdrive.
