Tobey Maguire’s baby with Jennifer Meyer isn’t due until later this year, but Maguire, 31, is already playing the part of protective dad. Ferrying his fiancée of five months to an appointment with her doctor in Los Angeles on August 30, “Tobey was driving very, very carefully, like a grandfather!” a witness said. When the couple of more than three years returned to the vehicle over an hour later, Tobey gave Jennifer a sweet smooch before opening the car door.

“He takes good care of her,” an onlooker said. Not that Meyer doesn’t pamper Maguire as well. Before their doctor visit, the lovebirds hit busy shopping street Robertson Boulevard, where a witness says, “As they were crossing street, she bear-hugged him from behind.” She must have long arms, because she’s almost ready to pop.

Spiderman 3 In New York Tobey Maguire was taking a break from filming Spiderman 3 while his stunt double did some dangerous stuff on wires, and Tobey got to watch Spidey in action. SPIDER-Man is getting hitched – and it isn’t to Mary Jane. Tobey Maguire, who’s getting in shape to play the web-slinger in the third installment of the Sony franchise, popped the question over the weekend to his girlfriend of three years, Jennifer Meyer, daughter of Universal honcho Ron Meyer. Friends say Jennifer happily said yes and slipped on the “big” engagement ring from Tiffany. No date has been set yet. A rep for Maguire said he doesn’t comment on his personal life.
