It’s a ridiculous claim. Some doctor’s concede it may be a possible rare allergy — but it really isn’t likely. Food allergies are virtually always related to proteins and to a lesser extent preservatives. Alcohol is neither of those things.

It probably is Asian Flush. The enzyme many Asians lack breaks down byproduct of alcohol, not the alcohol itself. That’s why she can still get wasted and then hung over.

I’m allergic to the proteins in cow milk and beef. Virtually everyone who comes to learn this says I’m lactose intolerant. Same deal, in reverse. Lactose intolerance is the absence of an enzyme. Milk allergy is an autoimmune reaction to the presence of foreign protein. I can’t imagine she’s smarter than average and average doesn’t understand the difference.
