Shawne Merriman was arrested by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department after he allegedly choked Tila Tequila, aka Tila Nguyen.

San Diego Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call from Tial this morning at 3:45 AM. Tila claims she was "choked and physically restrained" by Merriman after she tried to leave his residence.

Merriman is accused of battery and false imprisonment.

Tila was transported to Pomerado hospital while Merriman was taken into custody. His bail was set at $58,000.

A lawyer for Merriman denied all charges and says Tila was "extremely inebriated" and that Merriman tried to stop her from leaving the home because he didn’t feel it was safe for her to do so.

A.J. Smith, the general manager of the San Diego Chargers, released this statement:

"It’s disappointing to hear about the issue involving Shawne Merriman. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and let the legal process run its course."

Merriman is going to have a tough time claiming he was only trying to help Tila from drunk driving when:

1) He can’t legally hold someone from leaving his house against their will, even if they are drunk.
2) He has a history of steroid abuse, which means he may have violent tendencies.

Merriman could have been drunk himself, and made a bad decision, but it sounds like he held Tila against her will, so he’s in trouble. The rule of in court in situations like this is: the woman is always presumed to be the victim, and all men are criminals.

Merriman would be wise to learn this lesson. Don’t tell a woman what to do. If the woman wants to leave, either let her go, or drive her to wherever she wants to go so she is out of your house, and no longer your problem. No one is going to arrest you for letting your drunk girlfriend drink-and-drive, but they will if you try to stop her.

Courtenay Semel was detained, not arrested, in Las Vegas at Pure nightclub after she "smacked" a security guard in the back of the head on her way out. Courtenay was immediately detained by Caesars Palace security, and police were called.

Four hours later, law enforcement arrived and issued Semel a citation for battery.

Courtenay Semel is currently dating Tila Tequila above, and is rumored to have been a secret lesbian lover of Lindsay Lohan below.

Publicity whore Tila Tequila, aka Thien Thanh Thi Nguyen, wants us to believe she and Courtenay Semmel are a lesbian couple. Courtenay was dating Casey Johnson, and was rumored to have been Linsay Lohan’s secret lesbian lover.

Tila sees how much attention Lindsay is getting having a public lesbian relationship with Samantha Ronson, so she’s going to work that angle a little harder.

Kristy Morgan, a former Playboy model from Westchester, New York, rejected Tila Tequila on the season finale of A Shot at Love 2. Earlier in the show Tila rejected Bo Kunkle, who said, "I’ve been calling Tila my girlfriend for a long time now." He left the show graciously, but that’s not how it went down for Tila.

Kristy refused the key Tila offered to her heart, saying:

“You love that I’m honest and that I’m true to my feelings and true about who I am. If I take this key I’m not being true.”

Tila, who isn’t very nice when she doesn’t get her way, said:

“Why would you do that now? Why would you put me through all this process? I feel humiliated.”

The player got played. Boo hoo. Minutes after the show was aired Tila blogged the following nastiness on her MySpace blog:

It all seems scripted, and planned, to create drama, which means Tila wants to cash in on season 3.

Thien Thanh Thi Nguyen, aka Tila Tequila, told E.W. in their new issue:

"I wanna do meaningful stuff. After a while you reach your goals and then what? You just prance around like Paris Hilton all day long and feel like you have to find the next scandal to stay big. This lifestyle is fun and I worked hard for it, but I think in the long run, it’s a lot. I just wanna be in love for the rest of my life and move to an island and have kids."

She wouldn’t be saying this if she thought she could make the kind of money Paris does "prancing around." Paris is settling down now, and it appears Tila wants to follow in her footsteps. It’s all just an act.
