T.I. is Going to Jail

Rapper T.I. was expected to plead guilty Thursday to federal weapons charges and will face prison time. T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, was expected to be sentenced to 1,500 hours of community service talking to youth groups around the country, followed by about 12 months in prison.

He was charged with possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, as well as possession of firearms by a convicted felon. He faced a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count.

Harris was allegedly trying to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers. He initially pleaded not guilty, and has been under house arrest since he was released on $3 million bond Oct. 26.

T.I. is already a convicted multiple felon, but he got a slap on the wrist. Money and celebrity talks. The courts send a terrible message to those who are not living a life of priviledge.

T.I. Released from Jail on $3 Million Bond

T.I. was released from jail today, and he is to remain on house arrest until his trial, and all visitors have to have a criminal background check, so he might be kind of lonely. His lawyers provided two $1 million cashier’s checks, and the other $1 million portion of his bond was secured by his house as collateral. Authorities say that on Oct. 13, about an hour before a scheduled performance at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, Harris showed up to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers, and since he is already a convicted felon who is on parol, he cannot legally own any firearms. Authorities also said he already had three guns in his car - one of them loaded - when he was arrested. T.I. has a long criminal record, and an army of lawyers. T.I. Had some Big Guns

Over the weekend felon and rapper T.I. was arrested for buying illegal guns, and buying guns illegally since he is a felon and can’t legally have guns. Today the A.T.F. released the photo above of some of the guns they confiscated in the raid. Those don’t look like guns you’d use for hunting. I’ve seen movies that use them, but the bad guys who had those guns were terrorists. There was also that movie called Scarface with Al Pacino where he got all coked up, and when the cops came busting in he was standing there with his machine gun all crazy with coke eyes yelling, "Say hello to my little friend." I heard T.I. was just about to start filming a movie with Denzel Washington, who just finished American Gangster. T.I. could have gone down in history as a bada$$ if he had done a Scarface on those A.T.F. guys when they came busting in. No guts no glory.

T.I. will make his initial court appearance today after he was arrested this weekend on weapons charges. Saturday in Atlanta, ATF, U.S. Marshals: Fugitive Task Force, Fulton County SWAT, Fulton County PD, Dekalb County PD, and the ATF/Atlanta PD Violent Crime Impact Team all converged on T.I.s house and arrested him for possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, and possession of firearms by a convicted felon. CNN says:

The arrest resulted from an investigation that began this month when a federal firearms dealer contacted the ATF about a man inquiring about buying a machine gun without registering the weapon as required, according to a criminal complaint filed Saturday in U.S. District Court in Atlanta.

After attempting to purchase several machine guns from an undercover ATF agent, the unnamed individual — who said he had been working as a bodyguard for Harris since July 2007 — was arrested and began cooperating with the government and said that he was buying the machine guns and silencers for Harris.

Harris allegedly brokered the deals through the bodyguard because he is a convicted felon. It is a violation of federal law for a convicted felon to have another person purchase or acquire firearms on his behalf.

I am a big supporter of guns and the second amendment. Chris Rock was right about gun control. There shouldn’t be any. There should be bullet control. Price bullets starting at $5,000 a piece, then if someone shoots someone else, you know they deserved it. Especially if the victim has about $50,000 worth of bullets in him. According to Wikipedia T.I.’s felon status stemmed from selling cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, and while selling drugs he was in possession of guns. In addition, he has numerous probation violations, again selling drugs while in possession of guns. This current bust only included guns, which violate his felony probations again. If Nicole Richie can get an hour behind bars, T.I. is gonna get the book thrown at him, a big thick book, like a dictionary or something really big, and thick. Then after an hour or two they’ll shake the long finger of the law at him again, and tell him he better be good this time.
