Thomas Beatie and Susan Juliette First Baby Pic
Posted on July 23, 2008 at 10:24 am (PST)
Thomas Beatie, real name Tracy Lagondino, who is a woman that calls herself a man, had her baby. The baby is a girl named Susan Juliette, weighed 9 lbs., 5 oz., and was born on June 29 at 8:55 p.m.
We mentioned before how important it is to breast feed a baby, and that Beatie had her breasts removed. It turns out Nancy Thomas is doing the breast feeding, which is very responsible.
This baby will grow up believing biological fathers don’t matter in a child’s life. How would mothers feel if fathers said mothers don’t matter in a child’s life?
Both biological parents matter to children. In situations like this, where a person can choose to cut out the father because they can’t have a child with their same-sex partner, then they should opt not to have a child at all. I don’t believe sperm banks are a good idea for anyone to use, because the child never knows the father, and doesn’t even have the choice to know the father.
Thomas Beatie Had a Baby

Thomas Beatie (34) gave birth to a baby girl last Sunday at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon, but did not have a Caesarean section as some reports claim.
Beatie has struggled to be accepted to be called a man, even though she was born a woman, and still has all the biological parts of a woman, except the bulk of her breasts she had removed. Beatie’s world consists of finger pointing, snickers, and public confusion as to what she is … boy or girl? What makes Beatie think this kind of life, and environment, is mentally healthy for a child to grow up in? It appears Beatie was only thinking of herself, and not the child when she got artificially impregnated. In addition to not being able to live in a "normal" family environment, Beatie’s daughter won’t have the benefit breast feeding provides either. Beatie said she kept most of her female parts so she could have a baby later, which means she should have kept her breasts until after the baby came. That would have been the responsible thing to do.
Unlike most who feel peer pressure to accept all of Beatie’s bad decisions in the name of acceptance, I’m not going to condone irresponsible behavior when a child is involved.
The Lady with a Beard Thomas Beatie Called Freak Show
Posted on June 9, 2008 at 8:33 am (PST)
Thomas Beatie is almost ready to give birth, and she is being called out for what she really is, a woman. A columnist, Jane Moore, wrote that Beatie, who is "gender confused" is nothing but a bearded lady, and has kept her vagina and uterus despite calling herself a man. Moore goes on to say that Beatie has created a "freak show." Moore goes on to say that since Beatie kept all her reproductive organs, she is "Therefore, this is not, I repeat NOT, ’the world’s first pregnant man’ as sold." Beatie is also cashing in on the publicity the attention is bringing.
Moore has written about transgender couples for over 15 years, and now wonders if a similar couple’s daughter emerged from her experience "unscathed." The man in that relationship was born a woman and had given birth to a daughter before undergoing gender reassignment with a double mastectomy and full hysterectomy. He had later met a woman who had previously been a man and the daughter grew up calling her Mum. In case you’re confused, the couple was really a man and a woman, who switched gender roles, but still ended up having a relationship with the opposite “gender confused” sex.
Moore says of Beatie:
"Like it or not, the unpalatable truth is that this is a modern-day equivalent of a freak show, right up there with the Elephant Man, the Hunchback and, rather fittingly, the bearded lady."
Those may seem like harsh words, but that’s the reality of it. Providing surgery and artificial hormones to help Beatie be the way she sees herself is one thing, providing the science to artificially allow her to then have a child without a genetic male borders on unethical, just to continue to support her twisted perecption of reality. Raising a child in that environment teaches that child to also have a twisted view of reality, which will no doubt make it difficult for that child to fit in, or feel normal, in the rest of society.

The Pregnant Man on South Park
Posted on April 10, 2008 at 8:28 am (PST)Mr. Garrison is the teacher on South Park who got a sex change to become a women, but after seeing the woman who is pregnant and yet claims she is a man, Thomas Beatie, on Oprah, Mr. Garrison realizes he was just confused and wants to go back to being a man. The only problem he needs a new penis. He gets one by the end of the show. Happy ending for Mr. Garrison, but for the child of Thomas Beatie, there will only be a lot of confusion and stigma from a society that will have a lot of trouble accepting a woman who says she’s a man. Society sees the reality that Beatie is a woman, but due to her own untreated psychological issues Beatie cannot accept herself for what she is, a woman with a desire to be a man. That condition is partially called penis envy, which Sigmund Freud identified in his work. Some call the majority of society homophobic for not accepting Beatie’s choice to live as a man, even though she has a uterus and a vagina, and is now pregnant. The truth is that Beatie needs psychological help because she is in reality a woman, who is going to bring a child into the world who will have to deal with Beatie’s psychological issues as well. It’s Beatie that needs help, not the majority of society.
The View Discusses Thomas Beatie
Posted on April 8, 2008 at 11:20 am (PST)The ladies from The View discussed the woman who calls herself a man named Thomas Beatie. Some of the best points were: she still gets a pap smear because she has a uterus and a vagina, debate if testoerone she took will harm the baby, wondering how she can call herself a man yet have a baby like a woman, and my number one concern, concern over the psychological damage that will be done to the child due to its confusion over its parents gender issues, sexuality issues, and stigma from society in general. Some heterosexual parents are deemed unfit, so why hasn’t Thomas Beatie been deemed unfit due to her obvious psychological issues?
