Ted Kennedy Died So He is Publishing a Book

Edward M. Kennedy, aka Ted Kennedy, died Tuesday night at the age of 77 from brain cancer. Well today it was announced his memoir titled True Compass will go on sale September 14 with the first printing totalling 1.5 million copies. Kennedy was diagnosed in May of 2008. The publisher, Tweleve Publishing said of Ted:
"He worked valiantly to finish the book and make it the best it could be. As always, he was true to his word. The result is a great and inspiring legacy to readers everywhere, a case study in perseverance."
By late Wednesday morning, True Compass was in the top 75 on Amazon.com.
Robert Barnett from Twelve Publishing said:
"Kennedy collaborated with Ron Powers, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and co-author of Flags of Our Fathers, but every word is Kennedy’s, according to his literary representative."
"Happily and amazingly, he was in good enough shape to finish it."
"It’s his book. He wrote and approved every word."
If you want people to remember your life, get someone who can write award winning books that make great movies to write a book about you, and for you, then take all the credit yourself. Even a boring, or corrupt, life can be spun into sounding like an incredible life by the right author. For example, there are a lot of gangster books and movies that have become cult classics. If Ted wanted people to remember him badly enough, someone needs to write a book portraying him as a bit of a tough gangster type character on Capital Hill who took care of business no matter what it took, because the stakes were always too high to fail, except for that universal healthcare bill that seems to have lost steam. We’re sure to see a Ted movie after the book, because the Kennedy family is still considered American royalty.

I find the commentary in the posting to be quite distasteful in that I doubt Ted Kennedy died in order ...

Ted Kennedy was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital Saturday morning after being treated at the Cape Cod Hospital emergency room. Initially it seemed Kennedy had a stroke. Further tests revealed a malignant brain tumor. Doctors say the tumor, which is located in Kennedy’s left parietal lobe, had been causing him to have seizures.
The end of an era is drawing to a close.
