NASA Treadmill Named After Stephen Colbert

NASA decided not to name a space station node after Stephen Colbert, but they did opt to name a treadmill on the space station after Colbert. The node’s new name will be Tranquility, which comes from the landing site of Apollo 11 called Sea of Tranquility.

The treadmill name comes from the acronym COLBERT which stands for Combined Operational Load Bearing Resistance Treadmill. COLBERT is used to help astronauts to maintain their strength and bone density while in space.

An associate administrator for space operations, Bill Gerstenmaier, from NASA said:

"We don’t typically name U.S. space station hardware after living people and this is no exception. We have invited Stephen to Florida for the launch of COLBERT and to Houston to try out a version of the treadmill that astronauts train on."

Looks like NASA made an exception for Colbert.

International Space Station Room Named After Stephen Colbert

When Stephen Colbert discovered that NASA was using an online poll to allow people to vote for names of rooms in the International Space Station, he ordered his Colbert Nation followers to go out and vote for him.

When the voting was completed last week the room still known as Node 3, was voted to be named Colbert, which beat out the number 2 name of Serenity by more than 40,000 votes. Colbert got a total of 230,539 votes.

NASA hasn’t given Node 3 the new name yet, since they have reserved the right to give the room a name they believe is fitting.

Seems like NASA doesn’t trust the public to come up with a good name, even though they’re paying for it through taxes. On the flip side, naming the room Colbert is like free advertising, so unless Colbert wants to make a donation, the room ought to go to the number 2 name of Serenity in our opinion.

If the room has a window, we like the name, rather the phrase, Eye of God much more.

Neil Gaiman on Stephen Colbert

Neil Gaiman, who wrote The Graveyard Book, and Coraline at theaters now, appeared on the Stephen Colbert show.

After seeing this interview I am going to find this book, and page through it in the Bookstore. After enough trips I won’t need to buy the book, unless it’s filled with witty banter, then I’ll have to buy to show my friends.

Stephen Colbert Goes Nuts on Steve Martin

Steve Martin was a guest on last night’s Colbert Report. Stephen Colbert went completely nuts when Martin walked though his line of sight.

This is just another parody of the Christian Bale rant. Bale will hopefully get the message that he needs to exercise some self control. Maybe he could use his acting skills.

Paul McCartney Will be a Guest on The Colbert Report

Comedy Central has announced that Sir Paul McCartney will be a guest of Stephen Colbert on his show The Colbert Report.

McCartney will appear on the show Wednesday January 28. McCartney is promoting his album Electric Arguments.

Stephen Colbert to Appear in a Spider Man Comic

Stephen Colbert will appear in issue number 573 of The Amazing Spider Man, which will go on sale October 15.

Other stars that have appeared in Spiderman comics are: John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, Bill Murray, Laraine Newman and Gilda Radner from Saturday Night Live in October 1978, David Letterman and Paul Shaffer in 1984, and Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon in 1967.

The colbert issue will show Spiderman throw his spidey outfit in the trash, just like he did in issue number 50 that had a Johnny Carson cameo.

Hillary Clinton to Appear on The Colbert Report

Set your Tivos, because Hillary Clinton will make her first-ever appearance on The colbert Report this Thursday, April 17. Hillary wants to repaint her cold-hearted b!tch image, so she looks like a laid back regular gal.

As for black elitist Barack Obama, he has so far refused Colbert’s offer to have him on the show.

Hillary would take over the lead in the polls if she makes-out with Colbert the way Jane Fonda did. Maybe they should do some whisky shots before the show to loosen Hillary up, then turn her loose. I’d like to hear what Hillary would say if she answered the phone in the White House at 3 am wasted.

Ellen DeGeneres Crosses Writer Picket Line

Ellen DeGeneres isn’t just pushing the boundaries of accepted behavior in society, but she’s also raging against writers who want their fair share of profits. Ellen is pictured here crossing the striking writer’s picket line so she could do her show, even though some of her writers are picketing. Ellen told her audience:

"I want to say I love my writers. I love them. In honor of them today, I’m not going to do a monologue. I support them and hope that they get everything they’re asking for. And I hope it works out soon. In the meantime, people have traveled across the country. They’ve made plans. They’re here. I want to do everything I can to make your trip enjoyable and give you a show."

David Letterman, Jay Leno, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and Conan O’Brien, who himself was an SNL writer, all shut down their show to support the writers, but not Ellen. Governor Arnold is trying to negotiate an agreement because he says everyone involved, including the writers, have money and won’t be hurt by the strike, but the camera men, carpenters, studio crews, etc., will be hurt by the strike. Had Ellen mentioned any of those people I might have given her a pass, but crossing the picket line makes her a bad guy, er butch lesbian, or whatever.
