Star Jones finally wised up and filed for divorce from her husband Al Reynolds. The paperwork was filed on March 26, and Starlet M. Jones versus Al S. Reynolds was marked as an "Uncontested Matrimonial" case by the court and the records were sealed. Star released the following statement:

"Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life. A month ago I filed for divorce. The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone’s life that requires privacy with one’s thoughts. I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace and look forward to emerging from this period as a stronger and wiser woman."

What could have lead to the end of the marriage? For years Star vigorously defended Al against rumors that he was gay. The couple have been spending a lot more time together. Perhaps Star finally saw Al for what he really was, and it only took four years. Now Al has to find himself another meal ticket.

The National Enquirer (via MSNBC) reports that Star Jones and Al Reynolds are separated and may be headed for a divorce. A source said:

“They hadn’t been seeing eye to eye for months and had already spent a great deal of time apart. Finally, Star decided it was over. She told Al at the end of January that he had 30 days to get his act together or ‘get out.’”

“Star never liked the fact that she was the breadwinner and support in the relationship. I think Star felt Al had spent their marriage riding her success while she did all the heavy lifting. She resented it. Deep down, Star is a very old-fashioned woman who believes a man should support her emotionally, physically and financially. She now believes Al failed her.”

It’s not like this is unexpected. Once the Star stopped bring home the bacon, I expect Al to divorce her, and get what he can before the money is all gone. Now all we need is a shot of Al going into a gay strip club, and we’ll know the gay rumors are true. It would be even worse for Star if Al came out and did an interview saying he left Star for a man, and finally found true love.

The Star Jones Show, which only began in August, was cancelled by mutual agreement. Star Jones will remain with the TruTV network as a consultant. This is the kind of news that seems to have the same importance, as someone winning a bingo game at a nursing home.

A non-profit women’s group in Detroit call Full and Fabulous paid Star Jones $30,000 to speak at their "Health, Beauty and Self-Esteem Expo" during the 2006 Super Bowl, but she never showed up. They claim to have paid for first class airfare, a five-star hotel suite, and the cash just to get blown off. Why would that group choose Star to speak about peer pressure on fat girls, when Star had to have surgery to lose the weight. She’s no longer one of them. Living up to her image means those girls would have to resort to surgery in some case. Sounds unhealthy.

Star says she never got paid. Her rep issued the following statement:

"It is unfortunate that Mr. Wilson and this for-profit Expo has chosen to so gravely distort the facts surrounding this speaking engagement for their benefit. Ms. Jones’ lecture agency William Morris was contacted on April 18, 2005 to have her speak at an Expo on February 4, 2006 for $25,000. Per the accepted terms of the deal a deposit was to be issued by the organizers on July 4, 2005 with the balance being submitted 48 hours prior to the scheduled travel date."

Star’s rep goes on: "However, the balance was never provided and after countless attempts to save the date; the William Morris Agency had no other choice but to cancel the date and advise the booking agency that they were in breach of contract. At no time did Ms. Jones receive or accept $30,000 as stated by Mr. Wilson and had no direct contact with this for-profit Expo. The real shame is that, Ms. Jones honored all contractual terms of the deal but this organization did not and have now fabricated a story to make a name for themselves on hers."

Star sounds like the lawyer that she is. Sleazy.
