sparks2 Jordin Sparks looks up to Sanjaya

Idol finalist Sanjaya Malakar was the talk of the town on American Idol from his odd rooster hairstyle he once rocked to his unexplainable staying power for six weeks on the show. Malakar gave a lot for people to talk about. But this time around, he gives a whole new meaning to inspiration. And no, none of his crazy fans is describing him as such or has Ashley,-the little girl that were bawling her eyes for the singer. Of all people, its Jordin Sparks, the newly crowned winner hat says she looks up to Sanjaya.

Despite John Mayer and Justin Timberlake being her singers, Sparks does not hesitate to make it known that Sanjaya tops her lists as one of her favorite male singers too. He had so much guts," the 17-year-old "American Idol" winner told The Associated Press. He had so much strength. He got a lot of criticism, but for him to go out on that stage and hold his head high … I really look up to him for that. He’s just an amazing kid."

The 17 year old sweet-natured Malakar went from timid to the most popular on the show, taking risks on the stage every week and criticisms hard from the judges, well at least from Simon and Randy.

Sparks said "the point of the show … is to keep who you like, who you want to see the next week. Sanjaya gave that to the people." The two teens will reunite again to kick off their summer tour nationwide that starts on July 6 in Sunrise, Fla. and ends on Sept. 23 in Manchester N.H. After the tour, Sparks hopes to release her debut album right before Thanksgiving, which she mentions will have ‘encouraging’ tracks.

"I want people to roll down the windows and blast the music loud. … It will be just a Jordin album and, hopefully, people will like it."
