ironmanhv3 Iron Man Trailer Before Its Official

The Iron Man trailer from Comic-Con 2007 is the only one you’ll see until the official trailer is released later this month. Robert Downey Jr. looks like he’s back in this one. He’s always been one of my favorite actors, until he got hooked on heroin, and started sleeping in the gutter. There used to be a television series called Iron Man, and I’d always hoped I could get a hold of the Iron Man suit for just a little while to kick some bullies butts, but then I learned it was just a television show. I suppose I’d still have both my legs if I had that suit when I needed it, but you know what, being a cripple makes it easy to pick up chicks with bleeding hearts, so it all worked out for the best.

Isaiah Washington Claims His Firing was Racism

isaiahw Isaiah Washington Claims His Firing was Racism

Newsweek has an interview with Isaiah Washington this week, and in it Isaiah of course addresses the "Greys Anatomy" controversy that led to his firing. While he says he regrets getting into an argument with Patrick Dempsey and then referring to cast mate T.R. Knight as a "faggot", he says the real reason he was fired is because he’s not some mush-mouthed negro. Instead he’s a 6-foot-1 black man with dark skin and who doesn’t go around saying "Yessah, massa sir" and "No sir, massa" to everyone. Newsweek says:

"Patrick and I had a philosophical disagreement that got out of hand and that I regret a great deal," Washington says.

"I said a lot of negative things that were never reported, but there was one word that caught everyone’s attention, particularly someone who wasn’t even in the room with us. It was a fight between two men that shouldn’t have happened. But someone heard the booming voice of a black man and got really scared and that was the beginning of the end for me. I see that now, but I didn’t then."

"I apologized and showed my remorse for what I said and for the pain I caused anyone,’’ says Washington. "If a black man can’t get forgiveness in this country, when so many other people like Robert Downey Jr. and the governor of California get second and third chances … I think that says a lot about race and this country where we stand."

"Well, it didn’t help me on the set that I was a black man who wasn’t a mush-mouth Negro walking around with his head in his hands all the time. I didn’t speak like I’d just left the plantation and that can be a problem for people sometime," he says. "I had a person in human resources tell me after this thing played out that ’some people’ were afraid of me around the studio. I asked her why, because I’m a 6-foot-1, black man with dark skin and who doesn’t go around saying ‘Yessah, massa sir’ and ‘No sir, massa’ to everyone? It’s nuts when your presence alone can just scare people, and that made me a prime candidate to take the heat in a dysfunctional family.’’

"My mistake was believing that I would get the support from my network and all of my cast mates across the board. My mistake was believing I could correct a wrong with honesty and sincerity. My mistake was thinking black people get second chances," he says. "I was wrong on all fronts."

Hey we white guys have it hard too. Just the other day I was beating my Mexican maid and she fell down and broke my DVD player. Of course I did what any gentleman would do, I called the cops and had her butt arrested for destroying my property. Long story short, she got off. A white man just can’t get justice in this society.

Hollywood is racist. Just because I m a 6’ 1" attraktive white male, everyone just asumes I m artickelet and can spel.

Isaiah got fired because he’s a jerk, and a butt hole. If he wants to play the blame game how about including the Jews and the Gay mafia while he’s at it? The creator of Grey’s Anatomy is a black woman, so Isaiah is peeing in the wind with his racism claim.

Robert Downey Jr. Stands by Mel Gibson

  Share

Mel Gibson alienated a lot of people in Hollywood with his anti-Semitic tirade when he was arrested, but he’s got Robert Downey Jr. on his side. Downey, whose dad is Jewish, told W magazine, "What occurred, in my estimation, was that somebody was caught in the act of being an imperfect human being." As for all the Gibson haters in Tinseltown, Downey smirked, "I really didn’t know that we had 8 million morally sound people in this town. Wow, I really didn’t know that. I guess I’ve been dining at the Ivy with, like, living saints."

Well said Downey, well said.

Robert Downey, Jr. is Iron Man

  Share

Robert Downey, Jr. is suiting up to star in "Iron Man," a superhero movie based on the Marvel Comics character.

Jon Favreau is directing the Paramount Pictures release. Filming is slated to begin in February in Los Angeles.

Marvel president of production Kevin Feige said the filmmakers looked for the best actor to embody the character.

"The Marvel characters are not just about how high they jump or how fast they fly, they’re about their character flaws," Feige said. "They’re about their inner demons. They’re about the struggles that they go through between being a man and being a hero."

Downey, who has battled his fair share of inner demons, worked hard to get the role, getting in shape and even growing a goatee like the one Stark sports in the comic books.

"In every casting announcement we’ve done, people in their mind’s eye have their own view of it and let us know about it. We’re used to it," Feige said. "The point is, we looked at everybody, and we found the best person for the role. It’s as confident a casting move as we’ve ever done. The proof will be in the pudding, but he is Tony Stark."

Downey returns to theaters on November 10 in the Diane Arbus bipic "Fur" opposite Nicole Kidman.
