Robert Downey Jr said in a recent interview that he saw The Dark Knight Batman movie, but he just didn’t get it. Downey said:

"My whole thing is that that I saw ’The Dark Knight’. I feel like I’m dumb because I feel like I don’t get how many things that are so smart. It’s like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I’m like, ’That’s not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.’ I loved ’The Prestige’ but didn’t understand ’The Dark Knight’. Didn’t get it, still can’t tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character and in the end they need him to be a bad guy. I’m like, ’I get it. This is so high brow and so f–king smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie.’ You know what? F-ck DC comics. That’s all I have to say and that’s where I’m really coming from."

"You know, you’re never too old to burn your bridges because I believe I have offended everyone," he says, laughingly. "I think I’ve got a couple more. ’I’ll burn that bridge when I come to it’ is my favourite phrase I’ve ever coined."

Downey praised Iron Man, and said he had a good feeling about it, but didn’t expect it to be so big. Iron Man was big, but not bigger than The Dark Knight. Despite Downey’s harsh words for Batman, he’d still sign a deal with DC Comics if they offered.

Guy Ritchie scored one of the hottest stars in Hollywood right now to play in his new Sherlock Holmes movie, and that star is Robert Downey Jr. Ritchie will be directing, and starts shooting this fall for Warner Bros.

Another movie also being filmed about Holmes will be made by Columbia Pictures, who recently announced that Judd Apatow would produce a comic take on Holmes, to star Borat’s Sacha Baron Cohen as the super sleuth, and Will Ferrell as his sidekick, Dr. Watson.

Looks like we’re going to have to see both movies.

Ben Stiller decided he wanted to make a viral video to promote Tropic Thunder, with the help of his nephew. Ben got Robert Downey Jr., and Jack Black to star in it. It’s pretty funny.

Iron Man continues to crush the competition with domestic receipts totalling $177.1 million, and the international total reaching a whopping $276.1 million.

Speed Racer, which cost $200 million, has been a huge bomb this weekend with opening receipts totalling a dismal $20.2 million. Bombs don’t get much worse than this. Looks like Christina Ricci will need to keep working on her silver screen comeback.

Some of the other studios are claiming that Warner Brothers isn’t fudging the total take for Speed Racer, to make it look like they had a second place finish. If that’s true, then Speed Racer is a complete disaster.

Robert Downey Jr., who played Tony Stark in Iron Man, is already signed to reprise his role in the Iron Man sequel scheduled to be released in April of 2010.

Robert Downey Jr. (43) was practicing with his martial arts instructor in his driveway on Wednesday. It may have been just a photo op, but who cares, Downey’s new movie Iron Man is a box office mega hit. It’s so nice to see Downey back on top after going through such hard times.

After the workout, Downey had lunch with his son and a friend. His son must be super stoked that his dad is a super hero … in the movies.
