Rachael Ray Show Sued by Former Accountant

The Rachael Ray TV cooking show is being sued by a former accountant, Aaron Ferguson. Ferguson claims he was forced out of his job due to his eating disorder, and is asking for $1 million in damages.

Ferguson says in his lawsuit, filed in Manhattan’s state Supreme Court, that he has suffered from anorexia for about six years. Ferguson says his supervisor repeatedly exhibited "hostile behavior" and made "vile," discriminatory and hurtful comments. The comments included, "Anorexics are sick in the head," and, "Anorexics should not be able to work."

Ferguson’s lawyer, William H. Kaiser, said Thursday:

"The things that were said in front of my client were hurtful, and once they knew he had a problem with it they should have stopped."

Ferguson said he began working in July 2007 for CBS Television Distributions Inc., a CBS Corp. unit, and the producer and owner of the "Rachael Ray" show. After he complained about his treatment, he says, he was "forced out" in October 2007. Kaiser said the firing was retaliation: "He was punished for complaining."

The lawsuit, filed late Wednesday, names CBS Corp., CBSTD Inc. and three employees of the show as defendants. Rachael Ray is not named as a defendant.

There’s probably a lot more to this than what Ferguson claims, like maybe he couldn’t show up for work because he was in a coma from not eating too many times, so they fired him.

Rachel Ray Dunkin Donuts Scarf Controversy

Rachel Ray made a commercial for Dunkin Donuts, and a stealth stylist slipped an offensive scarf around her neck, that the educated viewers instantly recognized. Those Islamic terrorists are thumbing their noses at us again. Michelle Malkin explains:

The keffiyeh, for the clueless, is the traditional scarf of Arab men that has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad. Popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos, the apparel has been mainstreamed by both ignorant (and not-so-ignorant) fashion designers, celebrities, and left-wing icons.

Three years ago, pop singer Ricky Martin donned a traditional red-checked keffiyeh with the phrase “Jerusalem is ours” inscribed in Arabic. Apologizing for his obliviousness, Martin said: “I had no idea that the kaffiyeh scarf presented to me contained language referring to Jerusalem, and I apologize to anyone who might think I was endorsing its message.”

Dunkin Donuts responded to complaints about the scarf:

“Thank you for expressing your concern about the Dunkin’ Donuts advertisement with Rachael Ray. In the ad that you reference, Rachael is wearing a black-and-white silk scarf with a paisley design that was purchased at a U.S. retail store. It was selected by the stylist for the advertising shoot. Absolutely no symbolism was intended. However, given the possibility of misperception, we will no longer use the commercial.”

Dunkin Donuts received so many complaints about the scarf, they pulled the ad. Michelle Malkin commented on the decision:

It’s refreshing to see an American company show sensitivity to the concerns of Americans opposed to Islamic jihad and its apologists. Too many of them bend over backwards in the direction of anti-American political correctness. Naturally, liberal commentators on the Internet are now up in arms over Dunkin Donut’s decision to yank the ad and mock anyone who expresses concern over the keffiyeh’s symbolism.

It’s just a scarf, the clueless keffiyeh-wearers scoff. Would they say the same of fashion designers who marketed modified Klan-style hoods in Burberry plaid as the next big thing? Fashion statements may seem insignificant, but when they lead to the mainstreaming of violence—unintentionally or not–they matter. Ignorance is no longer an excuse. In post-9/11 America, vigilance must never go out of style.

Rachel Ray, and all celebrities, need to be very careful when they endorse a product. It could hurt their career. Look at Oprah. Her TV show ratings, and sales of her magazine and other products, have declined significantly since she supported Barack Obama, and he became the center of a nasty controversy involving his spiritual adviser Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

Rachel Ray Gets Pie to the Face by Food Blog

Rachael Ray is the spokeswoman for Dunkin Donuts, but refused to drink their coffee while filming a commercial for them. Grub Street reports:

"… she took one sip of her Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, yelled "What is this sh-t? Get me MY coffee," and would not continue until she was given "her" coffee — i.e., Starbucks."

"Never happened," says Ray’s publicist, who called the report "stupid" and "ridiculous."

The rep added: "That’s like Michael Jordan wearing Adidas to a Nike shoot."

A spokesperson for Dunkin Donuts is calling shenanigans on the story as well. "I was there for the entire shoot and I assure you that the story reported on New York magazine’s website today is totally false. We enjoy working with Rachael, and we are proud to have her as our brand ambassador."

It seems the food blogging world is so boring they have been resorting to making things up just to stir up some drama.

Rachael Ray was attacked by a dog in Union Square Park Saturday while bravely defending her pit-bull mix, Isaboo. According to the TV host’s rep, "This dog came up – there was no owner in sight – and became aggressive. Rachael and some others shooed it away, but it came back and attacked Isaboo. Other dogs were involved, and Rachael jumped in and was bit by one of the dogs on the leg. A nurse was in the park and checked her out. She’s fine."

Isaboo probably smelled like food from being around Ray, so the other dog was probably trying to eat tasty little Isaboo.

Rachael Ray Being Falsely Accused of Racism

Perky talk show host Rachael Ray made disparaging racial remarks about the woman who gave Ray her big shot at daytime TV, none other than Oprah Winfrey, according to sources. It’s a shocking account of a dinner that occurred during the period that the show was being sold.

Rewind to December 3, 2005. Ray was at the Century City Shopping Mall in Los Angeles for a book signing. Reps from King World, the production company that was syndicating the show, were shooting the event for its sales presentation.

At around 7:00 PM, Ray, along with seven others, went to Houston’s Restaurant in the mall. They sat in a booth in the far right rear of the restaurant. Ray ordered fish and complained to the table it was dry. She was also drinking red wine and lots of it, one source says a minimum of four big glasses.

We’re told Ray became "extremely loud and aggressive," and began dissing Oprah. Sources say she told the group about a portrait of Oprah that sits in the lobby of Harpo Productions in Chicago. It’s from the movie "Beloved" and shows Winfrey’s back, enhanced with scars. She’s also wearing a skirt from the slavery era.

Back at the table, sources say Ray launched into attack mode: "Why is she wearing slave drag? She obviously has problems being black." The comments, if she even said it, highlight what everyone says, that Oprah has forgotten her black community roots, and alienated many in the black community. The comments are not racist as some are trying to make it out to be.

Oprah wasn’t Ray’s only target. Sources say she told the group how much she liked Jennifer Aniston Brad’s a "pu**y boy." But her harshest comments were reserved for Angelina Jolie, calling her "a skanky, backdoor c**t.

A source contacted the Director of Publicity for Rachael Ray, Charlie Dougiello, who said, "Rachael did attend the dinner referenced and enjoyed wine and good conversation with friends and colleagues. She denies making any of the comments referenced. In fact, there are several words that are attributed to Rachael that she has never uttered in her life."

Dougiello added, "Neither in public nor in private has Rachael made a disparaging or cruel remark about her friend and mentor, Oprah, nor a celebrity couple she has never even met."

Dougiello also said, "There were several associates of Rachael’s at that table who, unprompted, agreed that Rachael never made any of the comments she is being accused of making… and it seems very convenient that these accusations are being levied at a time when Rachael’s success has focused the public eye on her."

If you want to try to ruin someone’s career you are jealous of, just accuse them of racism or the equivalent thereof. I don’t believe Ray said any of this.

Martha Stewart is obviously worried about Rachel Ray – the celebrity chef whose new TV show starts today on Channel 7. Four Stewart staffers using fake names tried to infiltrate Ray’s audience at a taping last week, a source told PAGE SIX, but the spies were recognized by a security guard who also works for Stewart. “They were kicked out because they lied about their names,” sniffed the spy. “Otherwise they would have been welcome to stop by – we have nothing to hide.” A rep for Ray said: “We did have a group at a taping on Wednesday who misrepresented themselves and were turned away from being in the studio audience.” Stewart, whose ratings on NBC are mediocre, is obviously concerned about her new rival, whose Food Network ratings were through the roof. But a Stewart spokeswoman said, “No one from Martha Stewart misrepresented themselves. In fact, a Rachel staffer who they knew well, greeted them warmly, even asked if she could get them better seats. For reasons unknown to us, they were asked to leave by one of Martha’s former audience coordinators, not by a security guard – and they did so.”
