Patrick Swayze Responding to Treatment Well

Patrick Swayze (55) and his wife Lisa were in the crowd Friday as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the San Antonio Spurs 101-71 during Game 2 of the NBA Western Conference playoff series at L.A.’s Staples Center. Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in march. Yesterday Swayze released a statement saying:
"Thought I’d give you guys a little update. Lisa and I have been back and forth from New Mexico enjoying the arrival of spring and new baby calves. This past weekend, we spent a fun time with friends in Reno for Lisa’s birthday, where I took her jewelry shopping at Kenny G & Company and (we) were able to find her something really special and much deserved! In the meantime, I am continuing treatment at Stanford and the great news is I continue to respond well."
Stay strong!

Patrick Swayze Doing Better

Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer, but it is responding to treatment. His physician, Dr. George Fisher, said:
"Patrick Swayze continues to respond well to his treatment for pancreatic cancer. Because of his excellent response, he will continue the same therapy at Stanford."
Swayze’s wife Lisa Niemi added:
"We’re thrilled and grateful for the positive response Patrick has shown towards his treatment. Also, we can’t help but feel that all the prayers, meditations and good thoughts sent his way by everyone has made a difference. Thank you!"
Swayze is undergoing chemotherapy, but not radiation treatment at this time, according to his rep. Pancreatic cancer is almost always fatal. The most a person can hope for is a little more time, which it seems like Swayze might get, but it probably won’t be a lot of time.
Patrick Swayze Gets Some Encouragement

Patrick Swayze could use all the encouragement anyone can offer after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Manhattan attorney Allan Pilson remembers what preceded his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in May 2003 was excruciating stomach pain.
Patrick Swayze Smokes Three Packs a Day

Patrick Swayze’s doctor, Dr. George Fisher, said Swayze was not diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January, following gastrointestinal surgery, but far more recently.
A&E says that "The Beast," which stars Swayze as what’s described by the AP as "an unorthodox FBI agent," is "being considered" by the network and could become a regular series. If that’s the case, Swayze’s rep says that Patrick wants to stay on the show. It’s hard to say if that will be possible considering the fact pancreatic cancer advances quickly.
Now there’s news that Patrick smokes 3 packs of cigarettes a day. That’s a lot!
INSIDE EDITION has uncovered Patrick Swayze had a three pack a day cigarette habit. The habit was so bad it was listed as a partial factor in the cause of a plane crash Swayze was involved in by the National Transit Safety Board in 2000. The report reveals Swayze was flying his plane when he became physically impaired in the cockpit which authorities said may have been caused by the cumulative effects of carbon monoxide by-products from the engine and from tobacco use.
According to the American Cancer Society previous studies have shown that smoking is responsible for about one-third of pancreatic cancer deaths. Studies reveal heavy smoking may damage the pancreas before cancer develops leaving the damaged pancreas more susceptible and at a greater risk of developing cancer.
Don’t smoke! If you can’t quit, get help until you do. If you want some real motivation, go visit cancer patients who got cancer from smoking.
Patrick Swayze Publicist Confirms Cancer

Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer as HG reported earlier today. Now Swayze’s publicist issued the following statement:
"Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment."
"Patrick’s physician Dr. George Fisher states, ’Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.’ Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."
Pancreatic cancer is not curable. Even with a miracle only about 4% of pancreatic cancer patients live past 5 years. This is extremely sad.
