TMZ in Contempt of Court for Leaking OJ Simpson If I Did It Manuscript?

When AOL is bankrolling your operation you can afford to legally piss off everyone to get the story, and that may eventually cost TMZ. Here’s more:
A court-appointed bankruptcy trustee wants a gossip web site held in contempt for its publication yesterday of the entire manuscript of "If I Did It," O.J. Simpson’s purportedly fictionalized account of the murder of his ex-wife and a male friend. The "exclusive" posting of the 235-page book by TMZ.com came days after a federal judge ruled that the work’s copyright can be pursued by the family of the late Ron Goldman, who was murdered along with Nicole Brown Simpson in June 1994 (Simpson was acquitted of the killings). According to an emergency motion by Drew Dillworth, the federal trustee, the web site’s posting of the manuscript in a downloadable PDF format has likely "diminished or destroyed" the value of the book, which the Goldmans may eventually publish (and promote) as Simpson’s confession. Dillworth estimated that the PDF, which remained online for about two hours, was downloaded by "tens, if not hundreds of thousands of people." As seen below, the posted copy of the book was emblazoned with a watermark of TMZ’s logo and included the manuscript’s copyright notation. Jonathan Polak, a Goldman family attorney, said the web site "literally reached into the bankruptcy estate and stole this asset for its own profit." A hearing on Dillworth’s contempt motion is scheduled for this afternoon in a Miami bankruptcy court. The fight for the book’s copyright landed in federal court after a Simpson company, Lorraine Brooke Associates, filed for Chapter 7 protection in April. On June 15, Judge A. Jay Cristol ruled that the incorporation of Lorraine Brooke was a fraudulent bid to shelter the book’s proceeds from Simpson’s debtors, namely Goldman’s heirs. Dillworth was appointed to administer the bankrupt firm’s assets, so that he could maximize eventual payments to secured and unsecured creditors. In a statement, TMZ said it "did nothing wrong," though the site did not address questions about its publication of the entire copyrighted manuscript. While TMZ did not detail how it had "obtained" its exclusive, it appears that the book was simply downloaded from a file sharing service where the PDF was first made available last Thursday. Data embedded in the PDF shows that the version posted on the gossip site is identical to a copy that was first made available June 14 on The Pirate Bay site. The manuscript, in the e-book format, was still available for download this afternoon.

O.J. Simpson’s “If I Did It” Leaked On Internet

It was bound to happen. The book no stores want to touch has been leaked on the web. A manuscript of O.J. Simpson’s "If I Did It" has surfaced online, and it’s every bit as tasteless and gruesome as expected.
In the book, Simpson chronicles how he "would have" killed his wife and her friend, Ronald Goldman (Of course, it’s hard to remember that he’s innocent of these crimes in light of the fact that he’s clearly guilty).
The book was shunned by most large retail booksellers and all copies were ordered to be destroyed. Heck, even Fox decided not to air Simson’s interview about the book. It seems the only place for material like this is the wacky World Wide Web.
TMZ has the horrible, ugly excerpts here.
Judge Sends Cops to Retrieve Paris Hilton for Hearing

L.A. Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer insisted that Paris Hilton appear – in the flesh – before him this morning.
She is on her way to court now in a cruiser. The cameras are following the black-and-white’s journey.Â
The coverage is reminiscent of the coverage of O.J. Simpson in the white Bronco. What an embarrassment for L.A. Unbelievable!
O.J. Simpson Kicked Out of Steakhouse

The owner of an upscale steakhouse in Louisville said he asked O.J. Simpson to leave his restaurant the night before the Kentucky Derby because he is sickened by the attention Simpson still attracts.
"I didn’t want to serve him because of my convictions of what he’s done to those families," Jeff Ruby owner of the steakhouse said. He added, "The way he continues to torture the lives of those families … with his behavior, attitude and conduct."
Ruby – who owns restaurants in Cincinnati, Louisville and Belterra, Ind., said Simpson, who was in town for the Derby on Saturday, came in with a group of about 12 Friday night and was seated at a table in the back. A customer came up to Ruby and was "giddy" about seeing Simpson, Ruby said.
"I didn’t want that experience in my restaurant," Ruby said, later adding that seeing Simpson get so much attention "makes me sick to my stomach."
"It was the first time since 1994 he has ever shown any class," Ruby said. "He showed it that night in the restaurant" by leaving quietly.
Ruby said after Simpson left, people in the restaurant started applauding him. He said he has received about 100 positive e-mails since the incident.
The walls of Ruby’s restaurants are decorated with celebrity photos. A photo of Simpson and Ruby used to be on display, but Ruby said he took it down after the killings.
In the picture above, O.J. Simpson is seen at the 133rd Kentucky Derby. If the Queen had known O.J. was there, she would have had him thrown out of the Derby too.
O.J. Simpson Says He Could be Anna Nicole Smith Baby Daddy

I’ve compared Howard K. Stern to O.J. Simpson, but I never expected this.
Add O.J. Simpson’s name to the list of Anna Nicole Smith conquests. When the blond bombshell died last month and at least three men claimed to be the father of her baby girl, Dannielynn, the double-murder acquittee "said he was throwing his hat into the ring," Norm Pardo said. Pardo is the videographer who amassed 70 hours of footage of Simpson from 2000 to 2005. "He said he knew Anna Nicole pretty well, and he said he had slow-moving sperm, and he might be the father." Simpson and Smith were castmates in "Naked Gun 331/3: The Final Insult" (1994), and Anna Nicole was certainly O.J.’s type. His murdered wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, was also blond and busty. Simpson, who often visits the Bahamas, also joked to Pardo, "I hope they don’t do a DNA test on Anna Nicole’s baby. If they find out Dannielynn is mine, I don’t want Fred Goldman trying to seize her money – or the baby herself." Goldman – the father of Ron Goldman, who was killed with Nicole – has been the most relentless in pursuing damages over the murders in civil court after Simpson was acquitted on criminal charges.
