Nicolas Cage had a lien filed against his assets by the IRS, so he’s been selling property to raise the money needed to pay off his $6 million dollar debt.

Now Cage is suing his business manager Samuel Levin, and is asking for a minimum of $20 million to repair the damage.

Cage earned $40 million between June of 2008 and June of 2009, according to Forbes, but the problems started after:

"Levin placed Cage in numerous highly speculative and risky real estate investments, resulting in Cage suffering catastrophic losses."

Cage also claims Levin failed to pay taxes when they were due. Cage claims it was only this year, after firing Levin, he learned "the gravity of his financial condition."

In the lawsuit, filed by legal pit bull Marty Singer, Cage claims Levin never advised him of his financial bottom line and is guilty of "over-extending [Cage’s] line of credit with banks and financial institutions." The suit claims Levin concealed Cage’s "true financial condition prior to investments and assets being acquired by [Cage]."

Cage claims he paid Levin millions and was "grossly" overcharged for his services.

There’s a lesson here. Hiring someone to manage your finances doesn’t excuse you from reviewing your account records, purchases, and other financial documentation to be sure you are not being scammed.

Despite Cage’s losses, he still has his hot wife Alice Kim.

Kick-Ass Movie Trailer

kick ass movie poster Kick Ass Movie Trailer

Director Matthew Vaughn presented clips from his upcoming action comedy Kick-Ass during this year’s San Diego Comic Con, and all of those snippets have appeared online in bootleg format. Varied in length, the footage serve as an introduction to Aaron Johnson’s Dave Lizewski aka Kick-Ass, Chloe Moretz’s character Mindy Macready, aka Hit Girl, and Nicolas Cage ’s character Damon Macready, aka Big Daddy.

Kick-Ass is an ongoing, creator-owned, American comic book series written by Mark Millar and illustrated by John Romita, Jr. It is published by Marvel Comics under the company’s Icon imprint. Here’s the synopsis:

Dave Lizewski, an otherwise ordinary New York City high school student and the child of Greg Willer, loving single father, takes his interest in comic books as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. He assembles a suit and mask, which he wears under his normal clothing, begins exercising, and practices things like walking on roofs, sating his ambitions for a time. He eventually seeks to fight crime, his first attempt at which leads to a severe beating and stabbing by thugs, followed by his wandering into the street and being hit by a car. He retains his secret identity, however, stripping off and hiding his costume before paramedics arrive.

Telling his father he was mugged, he undergoes intense physical rehabilitation, including four operations. He is released weeks later, and as soon as he is off crutches dons the suit once more and goes on patrol. When he saves a man from a beating, an onlooker catches the scene on a cellphone camera and uploads it to YouTube, turning Lizewski into an overnight sensation christened with the name Kick-Ass.

In school, the mugging excuse used to cover up his bruises spawns rumors Lizewski is a gay prostitute. Believing them, his longtime crush, Katie Deauxma, adopts him as a "gay best friend". Lizewski goes along with this in an effort to spend time with her. His father, worried about him, gives him a can of police-issue pepper-spray for protection.

As Kick-Ass, Lizewski sets up a MySpace account, so people can contact him for help. The first such request he investigates leads him to an apartment of violent lowlifes who try to kill him. He is rescued by a costumed, sword-wielding young girl named Hit-Girl, who kills all the attackers and then leaves to join a grown man named Big Daddy. The two disregard Lizewski, who later learns that Kick-Ass has inadvertently inspired a subculture of people dressed in makeshift, original superhero costumes. Later, one such hero, the Red Mist, appears, and teams with Kick-Ass on street patrol. The two gain great public popularity after nearly being killed rescuing a cat from a burning building.

After the burning building adventure, Big Daddy and Hit Girl approach Kick Ass for a possible team up to take down a local drug kingpin. Unfortunately Red Mist turns out to be an informant for the drug dealers who ambush the two vigilantes and capture Kick-Ass when he tries to meet them.

The movie poster above was drawn by series artist John Romita, Jr.

The stand out star, at least in the video trailer, was 12 year-old Chloe Moretz, who has been acting since 2004. Chloe plays the character Angie in the upcoming movie called Diary of a Wimpy Kid that goes into pre-production in 2010. Diary of a Wimpy Kid is based on a best selling series of kids books written by a computer geek. At the age of 12, Chloe is already making some smart decisions, and is being offered some great parts.

Kick-Ass looks fantastic, and it could be a sleeper block buster just waiting for its release date. From what I’ve seen so far, this is on my list of movies to see.

Nicolas Cage to Play Al Capone

  Share

MTV reports that Nicolas Cage will re-team with Snake Eyes director Brian DePalma for The Untouchables: Capone Rising.

Cage will play a younger version of Al Capone, the character made famous by Robert De Niro. "Capone Rising" is a prequel to DePalma’s 1987 classic The Untouchables, and will revolve around the early dealings between Capone and Irish cop Jimmy Malone, a role that garnered an Oscar for Sean Connery.

Principal photography will begin in October. Cage is one of my favorite actors, but when is he going to do a movie that really kicks butt?

Nicolas Cage and his wife Alice celebrate the premiere of his new film, “World Trade Center,” at a party Wednesday night at Osteria Del Circo in NYC. Nice looking couple. Alice is hot!

Nicolas Cage couldn’t hide his emotion (below) during a reception in New York to honor police and fire fighters who died on Sept.11, 2001. Cage was given a cross made of steel from the rubble of the World Trade Center by 9/11 survivor John McLoughlin. Police and fire officials attended a private screening of “World Trade Center,” the Oliver Stone film that opens nationally on Aug. 9.

Nicolas Cage Buys German Castle

  Share

Nicolas Cage has snapped up a derelict castle in Bavaria, Germany, after months of negotiations. The actor first visited the 500-year-old Neidstein Castle earlier this year when it was put up for sale for $2.3 million.

According to a local newspaper, the actor wants to use the estate, which boasts 28 rooms and comes with 400 acres of forests and grassland, as a retreat.

But before he can move in, Cage will have to renovate the castle, it has draughty windows, a leaky roof, and the electrics and sanitary facilities haven’t been updated since the 1960s.

Cage owns 2 islands, and a German castle now. How cool is that?
