Natalie Cole (58), who was in the hospital in September, has hepatitis C, and her kidneys have failed, causing her to have dialysis three times a week to stay alive. Drug abuse in Cole’s past, and drugs used to battle her hepatitis C are suspected to have caused the kidney failure. Fortunately she is virus negative now after being diagnosed with hepatitis C almost a year ago.

On Tuesday Cole said in an interview:

"My son Robert (31) may be a possible donor match. It’s very sweet and kind of strange to have people offer something like that."

Um he’s your son though, so how is that strange? Cole adds:

"I’m not looking forward to the recovery time following a transplant, but in the end it’ll be worth it."

The kidney donor is in much more pain than the donor recipient. The only exception is when the donated kidney is retrieved through an orifice such as the mouth or vagina.

Natalie Cole has contracted Hepatitis C, which kills the liver. She suspects she caught the disease from past drug use. Pamela Anderson also has hepatitis C. Natalie released this statement:

"I’ve been so fortunate to have learned so much from my past experience. I am embraced by the love and support of my family and friends. I am committed to my belief in myself and in my abiding faith to meet this challenge with a heartfelt optimism and determination. This is how I intend to deal with this current challenge in my life."

Natalie’s doctor, Dr. Graham Woolf, says that Natalie has had a "terrific response to her medication and is now virus negative. This gives her an increased chance of cure."

There is no cure for Hepatitis C. Medications simply reduce the amount of virus in the blood, so less liver damage will ocur. Eventually though, the virus always comes back once infected.

Natalie will continue working, and is planning to release a new album in September called Still Unforgettable.

Natalie Cole told People on Sunday night that she thinks the Amy Winehouse win send "a bad message" and that "it’s not right for her to be able to have her cake and eat it too … She needs to get herself together." Cole clarified: You don’t get to just do your drugs and go onstage and get rewarded." Natalie survived a bout with drugs and alcohol in the early 1980s. Amen sister.

Cole, as it happens, won her first Grammy back in 1975 as Best New Artist, as Winehouse did Sunday night.

Kelly Osbourne has introduced Amy to an American photographer named Blake Wood (pictured above). Kelly says Blake II is a drug-free vegetarian.

A pal revealed:

“Kelly asked Blake to look after Amy and keep her on the straight and narrow. They’re staying in the hotel together and they might all move into Osbourne’s place when Amy finishes her recovery. He has met Amy’s family and they all really like him.”

Maybe Amy will get straight by becoming addicted to intimate relations like Lindsay Lohan, of course Lindsay seems to prefer all of the above again.
