Nancy O’Dell was one of the many stars injured while training for Dancing with the Stars this season, only Nancy’s injury resulted in a torn meniscus in two places, and arthroscopic knee surgery March 20. Nancy is currently resting at home. She says:

"When the surgeon saw the inside of my knee, it was worse than he expected. To quote him, the meniscus in my knee was ’shredded’. It looked like a snow globe."

OUCH!

Nancy’s husband helped her get around after surgery:

"My husband had to carry me up and down the stairs, even to the bathroom … now, that’s love!"

"I have to keep my leg elevated as much as possible, so I spend a lot of time in bed or on the couch."

Nancy watches Dancing with the Stars with her baby girl:

"My baby girl claps loudly at the end of each dance," she says of daughter Ashby, who turns 2 in June. "She particularly seems to like Steve-O!"

How cute!

Nancy has a new book called Full of Life, which will be in bookstores April 14.

Get well soon Nancy.

Jewel and Nancy ODell Quit Dancing with the Stars

Both Jewel and Access Hollywood host Nancy O’Dell have withdrawn from the Dancing with the Stars due to injuries from the rigorous training required. Nancy suffered a torn meniscus, and Jewel suffered after x-rays revealed a fractured tibiae in both lower legs. OUCH! Jewel recounts what her doctor told her:

"He said, ’You’re done.’ You’re not going to dance and you’re not going to walk! You’re on crutches."

"My doctor said under no circumstances could I continue, because if the fractures get worse we were looking at longterm damage like arthritis at a young age or pins in my legs. Neither of those were an option."

Jewel will be replaced by Girl Next Door Holly Madison, who will dance with Jewel’s former partner Dmitry Chaplin.

Jewel hasn’t spoken to Madison yet, but she does have some advice for the buxom blonde:

"Listen to your dance partner, don’t have an attitude and pace yourself."

Jewel says she has every intention of making a comeback. Not only does she intend to sing a song or two from her upcoming album, Lullaby, this season, but she actually wants to dance again.

"Hopefully, they’ll have me back and team me up with Dmitry again so we can finish what we started. I’ll just need to go slower next time."

We’ll see if Jewel ever comes back. We suggest taking calcium with vitamin D for a while, and drinking soy milk which contains genistein to help bone density, before coming back.

executive producer Conrad Green said in a press release Thursday:

“Though we share in their disappointment that they can no longer continue, their physical well-being takes precedent above all else. We thank them both for giving it their all and wish them a quick and full recovery.”

Take good care of your bodies ladies.
