We knew those extensions Britney Spears sported during her super-craptacular dance number Sunday looked especially cheap.

According to Norm Clarke’s Vegas Confidential:

… she wore extensions from Jessica Simpson’s Hair-u-Wear line, Vegas Confidential has learned.

Backstage spies say Spears pitched a fit. She had arranged for her own hair stylist to make the trip for $10,000 and “she wanted to go brown, but her people said ‘no way,’” said a backstage source.

Oh, the famous Ken Paves/Jessica Simpson Hair-u-Wear line. Allowing trashy mallrats across this great land to emulate their coked-out, suspended-license-defying idols.

Really, who needs a stylist when you have a mass-market line of Barbie hair at your disposal?

You can always cover up the bad patches with a well-placed c.z.-laden hand. Just like the stars!

Britney Spears has received another invitation from the Ace & TJ morning show, a nationally syndicated program, to redeem herself in front of record and radio executives by performing at the NAB Radio Show’s R&R Convention later this month in Charlotte, N.C. Does everyone have to try to exploit Britney to get publicity? FYI to Britney if you’re reading this…my kid is having a birthday party and it would be super if you could perform as a clown. My kid doesn’t like your music anymore, but thought you were hilarious on the MTV Video Music Awards. Did you know she still makes around $750,000 a month, and she’s buying a new house? Here’s more:

The newly renovated house, which was recently listed at $9,350,000, includes 6 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, a large living room with low ceilings, a dining room with high ceilings and a view of the heated pool, a master that includes a fireplace and dual bathrooms. The square footage also includes a media room, wine cellar, family room, eat in kitchen and spare bedrooms.

The 5 acre estate is accessed by a charming wooden bridge and the park-like grounds will give the kids plenty of privacy and room to play hide and seek.

The rolling grounds include lush lawns, a heated swimming pool, guest house, and room for horses.

Better fit Sean and Jayden with GPS tracking ankle bracelets. Just hours after Britney and the kids move in, there will be a search team trying to find her lost kids in the woods.

The Britney haters will always remember her disastrous 2007 MTV VMA performance. Britney will always remember she has $100 million dollars.

Britney Spears needs better handlers and better excuse makers. But, we all knew that.

The lame blame game that swirled yesterday is being countered with details of Britney’s bad behavior before the awards show.

She arrived in Vegas hours after a scheduled rehearsal, was partying when she should have been working, and wouldn’t listen to the pros putting on the show.

And then came the thud of a performance seen around the world.

Page Six is reporting:

"The dance number was spectacular – without her," said our spy at rehearsal. "When the stand-in was rehearsing with the dancers, in the hours they were all waiting for her, it was amazing.

Then Britney showed up and refused to do anything. The dancers were supposed to lift and twirl her in the air a few times, and that just wasn’t going to happen. The more complicated dance moves had to be erased because she couldn’t do them."

Oh…but there’s more.

That unflattering costume? It was worn at Britney’s insistence because she thought it was "sexier" than what the professional were recommending.

Meanwhile, Spears was agitated because she didn’t like the outfit MTV had selected for her.

"MTV wanted her to wear a corset outfit. It would have looked great and covered a lot of things up, but she hated it and didn’t think it was sexy enough."

The reaction today to Britney Spears 2007 MTV Video Music Awards performance is ranging from shock to horror, but no one is surprised. The AP said:

As in most train wrecks, it was hard to focus on just one thing as the Britney Spears disaster unfolded. There was just so much that went wrong. Out-of-synch lip-synching. Lethargic movements that seemed choreographed by a dance instructor for a nursing home. The paunch in place of Spears’ once-taut belly. At times she just stopped singing altogether, as if even she knew nothing could save her performance.

The AP reports just the facts. The New York Post said:

…why was Britney Spears’ totally lame, pathetically lip-synched Video Music Awards performance at the Palms Casino last night allowed to be seen by the rest of the world? Spears was stuffed into a spangled bra and hot pants and jiggled like Jell-O as she sleepwalked through the song. She didn’t seem to care that she danced like she had a pantload, that her lips weren’t synched with the song, and that the tune isn’t all that great.

The New York Daily News said:

Glassy-eyed and out of step, Britney seemed lost in a sea of pole dancers and overmuscled male models who groped her so much she wasn’t even mouthing the words by the time her number ended. Cuts to the audience revealed fellow artists rolling their eyes. 50 Cent looked like he might have just thrown up in his mouth, and Rihanna was flat-out laughing to a table guest.

And Us Magazine said:

Following a dismal performance of Spears’ new single, "Gimme More," a source tells Us that Spears was spotted "crying badly backstage. She’s devastated. She was really nervous and knows she screwed up." The singer may have had an inkling of what was to come prior to her performance: A VMA insider tells Us that Spears fired her hairstylist right before going on.

It’s the look of shock and horror. With all the gore and violence 50 Cent has seen on the streets, Britney’s performance is the one that will leave him shaking, and scared to sleep alone at night. When 50 Cent left the VMAs last night he was as white as Michael Jackson, and kept mumbling, "The horror, oh the horror."
