Melanie Chisolm (35), a.k.a. Sporty Spice, posed for a picture with her baby daughter Scarlet Star, who was born on February 22.

Melanie Chisholm (35) announced on her website she gave birth to a baby girl on Sunday at 4:10 PM. The baby weighed 8lb 3oz. The baby girl was named Scarlet Starr. The daddy is Thomas Star.

Melanie Chisholm, aka Melanie C or Sporty Spice, announced she is pregnant with her first child, and the daddy is her boyfriend Thomas Starr. Mel said in a statement on her web site:

“Well, I can now announce that Tom and I are expecting a baby and we are very happy. As I’m sure you’ll understand we needed time to wait for results and tell our families. Thank you for all your kindness, good wishes and support (even if it was based on speculation!). You all know how much I value my privacy so I’m sure I can rely on you to respect that, particularly at this time. I will be taking it easy but am also excited to start writing for the fifth album. I’ll need some time off to be a mum but, before you know it, I’ll be back.”

Melanie C (34) finally performed her signature Sporty Spice back flip on stage right before the final curtain fell on the Spice Girls Reunion Tour. Wish I could do that.

On December 18 the Spice Girls brought their kids onto the stage in London when they performed “Mama.” Victoria Beckham’s boys, Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz wore POSH shirts. Emma Bunton introduced her four-month-old son, Beau, to the crowd. Melanie Brown had her daughters, Phoenix, and Angel, in attendance. Geri Halliwell’s daughter, Bluebell, was the only absent spice kid. Melanie Chisholm., who is the only member of the band who doesn’t have children, recently said, “I’d love to be a mother. The clock is ticking, so I don’t want to leave it that long.”

It’s not like Melanie Chisholm has any pressure to have kids or anything. In another 15 or 20 years there could be a second generation of Spice Kids taking the stage.
