Kiefer Sutherland is Free
Posted on January 21, 2008 at 8:58 am (PST)
Kiefer Sutherland was released just after midnight at the Glendale City Jail after serving his full 48 days for his second DUI conviction. Unlike the female celebs who did everything they could to escape being treated like the rest of us, Kiefer took it like a real man and served his entire sentence. I might just start watching 24.
Kiefer Sutherland Being Released Monday
Posted on January 17, 2008 at 8:03 am (PST)
Kiefer Sutherland will be released from jail on Monday after serving his full 48 day sentence. Kiefer was not placed in special living accommodations available to those with the money to pay for them. "We do have a pay-to-stay," a representative from the jail confirmed, "however, he did not request [the program]. He wanted to be treated like any other inmate sentenced to do his time."
Kiefer deserves a lot of respect. Gary Collins is paying the $78 per day to get special treatment, and all the female celebrities in jail in California have been released early, but not Kiefer. This should boost his manly profile, and 24 as well.
Kiefer Sutherland Booked Into Jail

Kiefer Sutherland (40) was booked into the Glendale City Jail tonight to being his 48 day jail sentence. Kiefer will spend Christmas, New Years Eve, and his birthday, December 21, in jail. He checked in much earlier than planned while his show, 24, remains on the shelf due to the writers strike. After his jail sentence Kiefer will have five years of probation. He looks determined in this picture. It’s unlikely you’ll hear about him spending time in jail hospital due to a rash like Paris Hilton.
Daniel Dae Kim Apologizes for DUI

Lost star Daniel Dae Kim was arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence in Hawaii. Kim just issued the following statement:
"I am deeply ashamed and embarrassed by the events of Thursday morning. It saddens me to know that I jeopardized the welfare of the kind people of Hawaii, a community that I love and call my home. It is my intention to cooperate fully with the police and I am grateful to them for their sensitivity throughout this matter. To my friends, family, colleagues and fans, thank you for your kind words of support. To those I have disappointed I can only ask that you accept my heartfelt apologies."
Taking responsibility early is the key to saving a career. Just ask Kiefer Sutherland. His 24 series is back on track for this season, after he gets out of jail. Click below to see the 24 season seven trailer.
Kiefer Sutherland Gets 48 Days in Jail
Posted on October 10, 2007 at 9:57 am (PST)
Kiefer Sutherland is going to jail for a total of 48 days for his fourth DUI. The first 18 days are to be served immediately for probation violation, and another 30 days for which he must report to jail by July. Kiefer made a plea deal of "no contest" with prosecutors for a reduced sentence. E! Online reports:
In exchange for copping to a count of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent, prosecutors agreed to drop a second misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence, Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office spokesman Frank Mateljan told E! Online. Sutherland, 40, won’t be formally sentenced until Dec. 21.
To quell concerns over the continuation of 24 on FOX, they issued this statement:
Today our friend Kiefer Sutherland resolved his criminal case at the earliest opportunity. Kiefer made clear to us at the time of his arrest that his first concern was the welfare of those he worked with and that he intended to do whatever was necessary to prevent shutting down the show because of his situation. He told us that even if he had to sacrifice more time in custody in order to protect the show and the jobs of those who work with him, he would do so. From what occurred today, it is evident he is a man of his word. We wish him well and look forward to a long relationship with him.
Kiefer himself issued this statement. E! Online reports:
“I’m very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited recently, and I’m deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and coworkers on 24 and at 20th Century Fox.â€
This is why Kiefer is Jack Bauer. He doesn’t blame other people, whining how he’s a victim, or issuing excuses in press releases. He takes responsibility for his actions. Don’t worry though. A few well placed pillows on his bunk should fool the guards nicely, so he can spend his 48 days relaxing on a beach somewhere.
