Kat McPhee to Make Her Acting Debut With an Anything-But-Stellar Cast

Lame Project Alert: The Hollywood Reporter writes that Katharine McPhee is set to act in her first film, and, despite her smashing good looks, it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
"American Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee will make her studio acting debut in the untitled Anna Faris project for Columbia Pictures and Happy Madison. McPhee, along with Emma Stone, Rumer Willis, Kat Dennings and comedian Dana Goodman, have signed on to co-star in the comedy, which is being directed by Fred Wolf.
The script, written by "Legally Blonde" scribes Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, centers on a Playboy bunny (Faris) who gets kicked out of the Playboy Mansion and becomes the house mother to the lamest sorority on campus. The casting fills in the major roles of the sorority sisters and solidifies the project as the first female-driven comedy to come out of the shingle.
McPhee will play a pregnant hippy, while Stone will be president of the sorority.
Willis will play an insecure young woman who wears a backbrace even though she could have had it removed years ago. Dennings will portray a pierced women’s studies feminist, and Goodman will play the sister who keeps switching majors and should have graduated years ago.
Throw in Meg Ryan as a bag lady who lives outside the house, and you’ve got the least marketable movie ever to be made.
Katharine McPhee Struts Her Stuff

Katharine McPhee strutted out of a rehearsal studio in Burbank yesterday in a tight black tank, short shorts and heels.
While it’s rumored that she was rehearsing with an African children’s choir for an American Idol appearance with Josh Groban, a FOX rep denied that McPhee will be on tonight’s show.
Tyra Banks Squeezes Katharine McPhee’s Boobs - Video

As you all probably know by now, American Idol’s Katharine McPhee filmed an episode of the Tryra Banks Show last week, and had her breasts squeezed by Tyra to verify their authenticity. I’ll bet McPhee would have volunteered to let everyone in the audience squeeze her breasts too. These American Idol girls are kinda slutty.

Katharine McPhee Guest Stars on Lonelygirl15
Posted on January 17, 2007 at 10:23 am (PST)
This undated screen-shot captured from the Internet and provided by the Lonelygirl15 Web site shows American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee, left, and ’Lonelygirl15’ character Bree. The Internet serial will get star treatment Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, when McPhee plays in a nonrecurring, non-singing guest role.
McPhee was an early fan of the show, which unravels the mystery of a 16-year-old girl named Bree in short video segments posted on YouTube, Revver and an official Web site.
"I followed it from the beginning," McPhee said. "I thought it would be fun to meet all those characters."
McPhee’s management contacted the creators of the Web series about a guest spot. The writers had already been devising a female character who briefly meets Bree and had been searching for ways to cast fans as characters. They readily agreed to cast McPhee in the nonrecurring role.
"She has an album coming out and thought it would be fun to go on the show," said "Lonelygirl15" co-creator Miles Beckett.
A song from McPhee’s debut album, which hits stores Jan. 30, will be featured as background music on Friday’s Webisode, although McPhee will not be seen singing.
Instead, the 22-year-old will play an unnamed character who meets Bree and her friends after they briefly emerge from hiding. The episode, titled "Truth or Dare," was filmed last week. McPhee did not get paid for her role.
McPhee said she enjoyed the experience, especially the natural way she was able to deliver her lines. The show, though scripted, is shot in the form of a journal, where characters speak off the cuff into a Web camera.
McPhee said she learned some upcoming twists and turns of the closely guarded plot, but laughed when asked to share them.
"No!" she said, adding she would love to reprise her role.
"I would definitely go back if they asked me," she said.
