People came out with the report below countering our report yesterday that Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz have split just before he goes on tour with a new set of songs. There will be a lot of wondering until Justin returns from his tour now that People has thrown in their 2 cents. From what we’ve seen a split appears to be very likely. Even so I want to present both sides of the story. Post your comments.

Longtime couple Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz are still going strong, according to a source who vehemently denies a published report that they have split up.

“The couple are in fact very much together, as he prepares for the release of his album,” says the source, who is close to Timberlake. “Of course, made-up sources have had them breaking up, getting married, and having a baby ever since they began dating over three years ago.”

Earlier this week, a published report claimed that Timberlake – who is slated to release his new album, FutureSex/LoveSounds on Sept. 12 – had broken up with Diaz. The story cited their age difference – he is 25, she is 33 – as part of the reason.

However, People reports in its new issue that the pair were spotted having a late lunch just last Thursday at Asia de Cuba at the Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles. “They were very much focused on each other,” says an observer.

Only days ago did one publication say that Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz were getting married. Just like a Tabloid to post a story the opposite of the truth to boost sales. We want to scoop, the truth, and we want you to know first. Both Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz want to keep this quiet, but c’mon, they’re a power couple, and our viewers need to know.

What happened is that Justin is poised to leave on a world tour and he wants to be free. Last week he informed Cameron that it’s over, just as she was about to leave town to film some movie pickups, and according to insiders “she is devastated.” “They were a great, well matched couple in many ways but Cameron (at 33) is ready to settle down and wants a commitment, even though she might not admit it. Justin is only 24 and he’s been with Cameron for three years. He hasn’t had a chance to sow his wild oats yet.” “A few weeks back, Justin and his buddies took off for a few days in Las Vegas and Cameron went chasing after him. She was just too clingy.” Cameron is one of the richest and prettiest actresses in Hollywood and all she dreams about is a home and family. But she’s had bad luck with boyfriends who won’t commit: first Matt Dillon, then Jared Leto, and now Justin. Justin and Cameron figured the fact that they’re currently separated geographically would keep their bustup a secret for awhile.

The couple had been spotted recently out-and-about all over LA, but not together. Cameron (Drameron) is a bit of a drama queen, and Justin doesn’t dig it. She should have figured that out. He’s a lot younger, so she’s gotta chase him, but she also needs to make him happy, and that means changing for him rather than being herself. A losing proposition from the start. Better that it’s over.

When it airs on June 8th, this year’s the 2006 MTV Movie Awards will be just as uncivilized as previous shows. The awards gala is almost always the most naughty, flirty and downright sketchy movie awards show of all – and with prime sex symbol Jessica Alba hosting, it doesn’t promise to be any more respectable this year.

Jessica thanks “the perverts” for their support, and Colin Farrell makes a crack about Brangelina’s safari adventure. Christian Bale call himself a “lucky bastard” and Isla Fisher makes reference to being a bi-polar nymphomaniac — Oscar speeches these are not.

What they are is good solid fun, and as Alba puts it on the red carpet, “All the actors who come here always are excited to be here, and to go bananas.”

Christina Aguilera also performs her new single, ’Ain’t No Other Man,’ on the show, which airs Thursday night at 9 p.m. on MTV.
