I have worked in both the music and film industries for years and know, all too well, the eccentricities and dark corners of both. Actors and Musicians truly enjoy this way of life. To keep others guessing is something they often times get off on. After viewing Joaquin Phoenix on David Letterman, I have stopped at two theories.
1.) He is BORED. He has starred in many amazing films throughout the years, has “been there and done that” and is most likely tired of hearing the same questions. Once an artist of any sort becomes type cast or feels that their audience has them pegged, some may act out in such a way that will only prove these fans wrong.
KEEP THEM GUESSING.
Publicity stunt perhaps? I’ve seen worse.
OR…
2.) Joaquin cannot handle the pressure of fame. It is no secret that he has struggled with the death of his brother for years now. Rumors of this were only reinforced when Phoenix supposedly broke down on the set of Walk The Line and had to be hospitalized after the disturbing scene in which Cash lost his older brother.
Phoenix could possibly be dealing with some sort of overwhelmed identity crisis.
OR PERHAPS, HE IS JUST AMPING UP HIS FUTURE AUDIENCE AND FANS. I MEAN, JOAQUIN WAS TERRIFIED OF SINGING ON WALK THE LINE. WHAT WILL HIS HIP-HOP MUSIC SOUND LIKE?
The guy was being filmed by his brother in law, Casey Affleck at the show. How much more do we really need here?
This is clearly a very clever approach at a publicity stunt.
If not that, I will eat my words and continue to watch as Joaquin changes forms in the future.
Good day.
