Japanese singer Koisuru Hitomi wa Utsukushi released her album Superfly earlier this year. The single Superfly went all the way to number 6 on the Japenese music charts, and it rocks. See more here.

Japanese actress and singer Noriko Sakai (38), went missing Friday after her 41-year-old husband Yuichi Takaso was arrested Monday for possessing stimulants in the home he shared with his wife in violation of the Stimulants Control Law. Police had obtained an arrest warrant just before Sakai went missing, because she would not answer phone calls or emails since Monday requesting she come in for questioning.

Initially police tracked Sakai with her cell phone until she turned it off. Police did find her 10 year-old son in Tokyo where he had been left with a family friend.

On Saturday Sakai was arrested after she turned herself in to Tokyo police.

You can run, but you can’t hide from the police for long.

There is a long list of Japanese celebrities arrested for a lot of different illegal behavior. It appears in Japan, the law is applied to everyone regardless of status, unlike the United States where personal responsibility is not taken seriously.

Sanma Akashiya’s “Karakuri Terebi” held a contest last month in which 10,000 of Japan’s biggest Harry Potter fans competed for a chance to travel to the UK and interview the stars of the new Harry Potter movie. As it is a comedy show, they intentionally picked the strangest fans as finalists. A girl named Kana was the grand prize winner, and here are partially subtitled clips of her meeting Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter).

The best part of this interview is Kana’s obsession with Rupert’s eyelashes, which she touches with amazement. She also gets a sniff of his "wonderful smell" (her words). When Rupert said Kana smelled good too, she said most people described her as smelling like a granny.

In her interview with Daniel, Kana touched his face as well, then smelled her fingers. The person who did the subtitles said of Kana “this girl’s feelings are so real (genuine)” when Daniel was actually describing the situation as “surreal.”

Tsuyoshi Kusanagi (34), a Japanese pop star from the group SMAP, was arrested for public indecency on Thursday in Tokyo park after he was found without any clothes on. Kusanagi was arrested after multiple complaints from neighbors who complained of a drunk man who was not wearing any clothes in the park. Kusanagi said after the incident to a reporter:

"I caused trouble to many people. I am deeply sorry."

The pop star, sitting on the grass, resisted the arrest, saying, "What’s wrong with being n*ked?" public broadcaster NHK reported earlier. His clothes were bundled in a ball near him.

Police questioned Kusanagi shortly after his arrest and later raided his apartment. Police declined to give further details. Nippon TV said police seized nothing from his Tokyo apartment.

It would seem police may have suspected Kusanagi may have taken some sort of drug that caused him to lose his mind temporarily.

Public indecency carries a penalty of up to six months in prison or a fine of up to 300,000 yen ($3,060).

The many companies who sponsored Kusanagi, including the Internal Affairs and Communications Ministry have cancelled their contracts with Kusanagi since video of his arrested in the park has been topping Japanese and South Korean news broadcasts.

I had a friend in junior high who took a bunch of Dramamine, and the next morning he was found wandering down some road without any clothes on. No one ever forgot that event. It’s unlikely anyone will ever forget Kusanagi in the park.

The Tokyo Anime International Fair 2009 is happening now for the eight year in a row. The fair runs until March 21.
