People Glosses Over Reports that Madonna Snubbed Janet Jackson

People. com has a little story about the excitement at NYC hotspot Butter the other night. Other outlets (including Page Six) claimed that Madonna notably shined Janet Jackson on, while partying with a number of famous friends.
Of course, it could be senility. Madonna is looking pretty haggard lately.
People is reporting this:
Madonna, Janet Jackson, Shakira, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and others were living it up in the club’s swank banquettes.
Looking comfortable in her créme getup with suspenders hanging at her waist and her hair in a ponytail, Madge made a grand entrance – accompanied by three bodyguards. During her 30-minute visit, her hit "Like a Prayer" was piped over the speakers. Around the same time, Jackson strolled in, looking slim, with her hair pulled back tightly into a pristine bun.
So, it’s established that Madonna and Jackson arrived around the same time.
Then, People details the activities all of these superstars, except Miss Jackson, as well as the movements of Penelope Cruz, David Blaine, and Tony Parker. (What? No Guy Ritchie or Gary Coleman?)
The story ends with: "At around 2:45, the group checked out, continuing their party at Bungalow 8."
Though there’s no actual mention of Madge ignoring the Rhythm Nation artist, one can infer that "the group" that went on to party at Bungalow 8 did not include Janet.
Let’s be charitable and venture a guess that Janet declined the invitation hoping to avoid catching that mysterious "old lady"/zombie arms disease.
Read it for yourself.

Paris Hilton sees Plastic Surgeon

It’s unclear why, but Paris Hilton reportedly saw plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Hoefflin, last Friday while she was on house arrest. A source says he’s sort of the Hilton family’s private doctor, and consults family members on medical issues including, but not limited to, cosmetic issues.
This guy used to be Michael Jackson’s former plastic surgeon and has also done work on Sylvester Stallone, Joan Rivers, and Janet Jackson. Judging from his work I wouldn’t hire him. Everyone he’s done so far looks like a House of Wax statue that has melted.

Janet Jackson in Tokyo

Janet Jackson was in Tokyo to promote her latest and last album under contract with Virgin Records. The album, 20 YO, was a flop, but so was the one that came before that. Janet says this is her comeback album. Good luck with the comeback, and with negotiating a new contract with two consecutive failures on your resume.
Jermaine Dupri Quits Virgin Record

Jermaine Dupri had threatened to quit his job as president of Virgin Record’s urban music division because he blamed his colleagues for badly marketing the CD of his girlfriend, Janet Jackson. Yesterday, sources said Dupri was in fact out of there. A rep for Virgin CEO Jason Flom had no comment by deadline.
Maybe the fact that Janet Jackson’s album sucked, and bombed had a lot to do with it? Dupri was stupid to quit. It was probably just the excuse he was looking for since he plans to work for Miss Jackson, who is probably still rich.
Janet Jackson Excuses

Remember Janet Jackson’s new CD she just released? It didn’t do well, and although Janet is spending money, her boyfriend appears to be even more upset. Here’s more:
Janet Jackson’s boyfriend, Jermaine Dupri, is blaming his fellow execs at Virgin Records for the sorry sales of her new CD, 20 Y.O.
The New York Daily News’ Rush & Molloy reports that Dupri has threatened to quit his job as president of the Virgin Urban division because he feels label chairman Jason Flom and his team didn’t market Jackson’s correctly.
The CD’s sales plummeted 74% in the second week, dropping from No. 2 to No. 9 on the Nielsen SoundScan chart.
"Jermaine blames Virgin for not getting it enough radio play - not working it," says an insider.
"Jermaine and Jason haven’t gotten along from the start," another source adds.
But one of Flom’s defenders argues, "Jason wants the CD to be a hit as much as anyone, but she didn’t have the goods."
In an effort to resuscitate "20 Y.O.," Dupri is reportedly courting Mariah Carey to record a duet with Jackson for a track that would be added to a new version of the disk.
Dupri has made no secret of his displeasure with the way Virgin handled Jackson’s last album, Damita Jo, telling The New York Times, "They didn’t push the project."
