Former Dr. Jan Adams, the surgeon best known for operating on Donda West, Kanye West’s mother, was sentenced today to a year in jail for his third DUI arrest back in June.

Former Dr. Jan Adams, the doc who operated on Kanye West’s mom, Donda West, just before she died, was arrested for his third DUI at about 2:45 am. A police report said:

California Highway Patrol officers saw Adams’ 2004 gray Jag XJ8 driving the wrong way up an off ramp on the 605 freeway just outside Benicia, California. After failing a field sobriety test, he was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, driving the wrong way and driving on a suspended license.

This is Adams’ third DUI arrest since 2003. He’s currently in the Solano County Jail awaiting bail.

More bad news for Adams. A spokesperson for the California Medical Board said, “As of midnight last night, he is not allowed to practice medicine in California.” The former doc’s medical license expired, and so has his 15 minutes.

Oprah Surrounded by Scandals

Adams was featured on the Oprah show in 2003 with other cosmetic surgeons. In just a few hours of investigating, TMZ found DUIs and malpractice suits — among other things. How could Oprah have missed it — and not known or cared that Dr. Adams was not a board-certified plastic surgeon?

A rep for Oprah tells TMZ, "Dr. Jan Adams appeared as a guest on the ’Oprah’ show just once, in 2003, as the host of the Discovery Health Channel series, ’Plastic Surgery: Before and After.’ The show he appeared on focused on various television series that highlighted trends in cosmetic surgery. Since he was booked as a guest commentator on the subject of medical television, not in his capacity as a surgeon, and since we did not promote him as a cosmetic surgeon, there was no reason to do a background check on him. We have removed all references to him from our website."

But on the show, an audience member says she’s interested in getting several procedures done. Oprah, who is sitting next to Dr. Adams, says, "Let me see if I can hook you up." Oprah then leans into Dr. Adams and says, "We may know somebody."

Page Six reports:

Last year, Keifer Bonvillain was hit with a federal extortion charge after he allegedly tried to sell Winfrey audiotapes for $1.5 million of a high-ranking Harpo employee bad-mouthing her. But the charge didn’t hold up in an Illinois court.

Now Bonvillain, 37, who touts himself as a Louisiana-born "civil-rights activist," has launched a Web site in a bid to get a publisher for his exposÃ©, titled "Ruthless."

His breathless pitch reads: "An office manager at Harpo broke his silence and his confidentiality agreement when he spoke freely about Oprah Winfrey’s private life and business affairs. Keifer Bonvillain underestimated one of the world’s most powerful women when he, armed with clandestinely recorded tapes, decided to write a ’tell-all’ book unmasking the famed celebrity. Within days of Harpo learning about the book, two men were attempting to break into Keifer’s home – presumably to get the tapes. Oprah was desperate to keep the truth from being revealed . . . The fallout was Keifer’s highly publicized arrest."

Bonvillain vows to disclose that Harpo may have been involved in "blatant discrimination . . . This CEO not only knows about these practices . . . she condones them . . . Hours of taped conversations . . . reveal what they don’t want the public to know about [Oprah’s] private life, and a business that prides itself on its diversity."

Winfrey’s reps at Harpo did not return our calls placed over two days, with a message saying the staff was off for the holiday. Bonvillain did not respond to our e-mail.

People reports:

Oprah Winfrey paid a secret visit Sunday to her elite Leadership Academy Girls School in South Africa, which has been embroiled with abuse allegations after a 12-year-old pupil aired claims of misconduct.

"The meeting went well. It took about two hours, and I appreciate that Oprah took time to listen," the girl’s father told PEOPLE exclusively. The session with Winfrey included him, his wife and their daughter. "Oprah looked beautiful and was so easy to talk to. It went very smoothly."

The girl had left the school complaining about incidents involving the school’s staff, but her claims did not result in charges against the dorm matron.

Until now, no contact had been made, and the family had not been not invited to an emergency meeting in October, at which Winfrey apologized.

"I am very happy and pleased that Oprah heard our side of the story," added the father, whose name is not being revealed. "We have closure."

Dr. Jan Adams Walks Off the Set During Larry King Interview

Dr. Jan Adams appeared on Larry King Live tonight. Adams did not come out for the first segment of the show, but he did appear after the first commercial break, and very politely told Larry King that he would not speak or answer any questions. Dr. Adams said, "I had come here to talk about things in the press that aren’t accurate about me. But I have a tremendous about of love and respect for the West family and they’ve asked me not to go on." Although Larry tried to get Adams to talk, he took off his ear piece, shook hands with Larry, then walked off the set. Larry quickly went to commercial. Maybe Donda West’s family, Kanye West, and whomever else did tell Dr. Adams not to discuss the case publicly, or maybe it was Dr. Adams’ or Kanye’s attorney that told him not to talk. Dr. Jan Adams to Appear on Larry King Live

Dr. Jan Adams will appear on Larry King Live to tell the public he wasn’t responsible for the death of Donda West, Kanye West’s mom, even though her surgery took twice as long as normal, and he didn’t admit her to a hospital after she had complications during surgery. What’s he going to say to convince the public he is innocent? His professional and personal history already cause most people to be alarmed and suspicious of Dr. Adams.

Han Aeri Rushed to Hospital After Plastic Surgery

Han Aeri, ex Babyvox Rev member, was hospitalized in Korea when there were major complications during her plastic surgery. Aeri is a plastic surgery addict who left Babyvox Rev two months ago to pursue an acting career. Aeri started off her acting career on the right foot, but then she went shopping for new boobs and a V-line, which landed her in an ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Aeri could not stop bleeding after her jaw line surgery, so she was rushed to the hospital. Now if Dr. Jan Adams had sent Donda West to the hospital after her plastic surgery took twice as long as usual due to complications, she might be alive today.

It’s hard to imagine someone as beautiful as Han Aeri having low self esteem because of the way she looked. Beauty isn’t just how you look on the outside, it’s how you see yourself on the inside.

This is Julie Coleman seen with Dr. Jan Adams pictured above and below. Julie says she saw Adams on Oprah, and Discovery Health on the Discovery Channel, and since Oprah has credibility she believed Adams was a good doctor. She went on his show and agreed to let them tape her surgery, and in exchange Dr. Adams did her surgery for free. Dr. Adams is not a board certified plastic surgery, but he is still allowed to legally perform plastic surgery. It’s kind of like hiring a contractor that is not licensed and bonded. You don’t know what the quality of work you will get. WARNING: the pictures below are the post surgical pictures of Julie after she had major complications, and what looks like could have also been infected incisions. The pictures are extremely graphic. Click here to see video of Julie on Dr. Adams show. Patients have complications sometimes, but the quality of his work is absolutely horrible. Does the medical board really want someone like Dr. Adams performing surgeries that result in these kinds of complications? Dr. Adams was the doc that performed surgery on Donda West, Kanye West’s mom, just before she died form cosmetic surgery complications.

Dr. Jan Adams Arrest Warrant Issued

Dr. Jan Adams (aka Dr. Shady) did not show up for a hearing today, so a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge has issued a warrant for Dr. Adam’s arrest. Lori Ufondu sued Dr. Adams and won a judgment in excess of $100,000, after he left a sponge in her following surgery. Ufondu’s lawyer says Dr. Adams hasn’t paid. Today, Dr. Adams was ordered to appear at 8:30 AM in San Pedro, Calif., for a "judgement debtor" examination hearing, in order to establish where he had assets. The doctor was a no show, and the judge issued a $30,000 civil warrant.

Paging Dr. Adams. He is sinking in legal quick sand. If he hasn’t already left the country, he’ll probably end up in jail before all this is over.

Dr. Jan Adams Wife Beater

Dr. Jan Adams is under the microscope, and some media outlets are digging up as much dirt as they can to convict Dr. Adams before the facts surrounding Donda West’s death are released. I, for one, don’t believe everything I hear when it comes to a husband and wife involved in a divorce, because money is at the center of the conflict, so I’m not surprised to hear Dr. Adams ex-wife claimed he was a wife beater. TMZ reports:

Dr. Jan Adams physically assaulted his ex-wife, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

TMZ has obtained a restraining order filed by Susie Field, former wife of music mogul turned movie producer Ted Field. According to the document, Field claims on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2006, Dr. Adams became upset with Susie for taking a phone call during dinner. Susie claims, "He wanted to speak to whomever was calling me."

They began arguing and went up to the bedroom. According to the document, Dr. Adams was yelling, "I’m going to f**king kill you. I’m going to beat you. You need to be beaten." Susie claims Dr. Adams then "swung his right closed fist at my face…he attacked me," adding, [Dr. Adams] grabbed me with one arm and threw me toward the bed. I struck the bed and fell onto the floor."

Susie claims there was another incident as well. In September, 2005, she says they were at a New York nightclub, where he became angry because another man was looking at her. According to the document, when they returned to the hotel, he became "angry, threw me on the bed and began to strangle me. I thought I was going to die as he strangled me to the point of almost blacking out."

The judge granted the restraining order on November 28, 2006. Two days later, Susie filed for divorce. They were married in early 2006 and the divorce was final in February, 2007.

These allegations give haters all the more reason to hate Dr. Adams. None of this has anything to do with Donda West’s death. If Dr. Adams had unusual complications during surgery, and he didn’t admit Donda to a skilled recovery facility or hospital, then those facts have everything to do with Donda West’s death. All this dirt digging will continue until the medical records, and other facts are made public. Everyone makes mistakes, so I would rather give Dr. Adams a fair and balanced shake, rather than hang him before all the facts come to light. Right now all the negative history, and alleged facts that have come out about Donda’s death, make Dr. Adams look like a bad man that did a bad thing. He is facing loss of his medical license, the end of his career, a wrongful death lawsuit, and a medical malpractice lawsuit. His life is over if the alleged facts are true. Yesterday Dr. Adams sent condolences to the West family. Too little, too late.

Dr. Jan Adams Has a Very Long Legal History

TMZ did a lot of digging, and found that Dr. Jan Adams has lawsuits for malpractice, injury, restraining orders, sexual assault, and more in his past. How was it possible this guy could continue to practice medicine? He says he did "nothing wrong." He definitely did something wrong according to his own words.

Dr. Jan Adams once hosted a show called "The Other Half" — where he talked about how things never go wrong immediately following surgery, but instead weeks and months after. Oops.

As we all now know, Kanye West’s mother, Dr. Donda West, died a day after going under Adams’ knife for a tummy tuck and breast reduction. Click here to see the video.

In a lawsuit filed less than two weeks ago, another woman claims she’s the victim of medical malpractice at the hands of Dr. Jan Adams.

In a lawsuit filed in Orange County Superior Court on October 31, 2007, Rhonda McClain claims Dr. Adams and Euclid Outpatient Surgery Center were responsible for "mental, physical and nervous pain and suffering."

TMZ spoke with McClain about the surgery, conducted on March 10, 2007. She told us she’s now left with one implant and claims she nearly bled to death. She also says Dr. Adams has ruined her life.

TMZ has obtained documents filed by Dr. Jan Adams’ ex-girlfriend, claiming alcohol brings out his "Jekyll and Hyde" personality.

The papers, filed in L.A. County Superior Court in 2002 by Deborah Pratt, seek a restraining order, claiming, "Defendant has an unfortunate drinking problem and unless restrained immediately, will assert the worst side of his ’Jekyll and Hyde’ personality when he is intoxicated."

She goes on, "Defendant is very attached to my children and he has been abusive when intoxicated in their presence, so he must stay away from them, also.’

She claims that on occasion he burst into her home, threatened and chased her in his car. Dr. Adams filed papers denying the allegations. The judge granted the restraining order.

In another stunning lawsuit, a patient of Dr. Jan Adams claims he got her drunk after surgery, had intercourse with her and got her pregnant.

In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Teana Lucas claims she was a bartender and Dr. Adams was a customer. She says he agreed to perform liposuction on her upper arms and abdomen. The plaintiff, an aspiring model and actress, alleged as the procedure was about to begin, Dr. Adams "whispered in plaintiff’s ear that he ’loved’ her, that he was ’going to marry her."

According to the suit, after the procedure, he started making house calls to her home. On November 24, 2004, the suit alleges Dr. Adams told her she should get dressed and that he was taking her out for dinner. After three glasses of wine, the heavily-medicated plaintiff claims she was "heavily intoxicated." That’s when, according to the suit, Dr. Adams took her to his house and had sexual intercourse with her.

Lucas claims she became pregnant and Dr. Adams wanted her to keep the baby but she didn’t. Eventually, she says Dr. Adams referred her to an OB/GYN who could "take care of the problem."

Lucas also claims he botched her two surgeries. She sued for sexual battery and malpractice.

Adams denied all the allegations, but settled the case.

In another lawsuit, filed in Orange County Superior Court, claiming medical malpractice against Dr. Jan Adams.

Terrie Cage claims on June 27, 2007, Dr. Adams and another doctor "negligently and carelessly examined, diagnosed, cared for, treated and performed surgery upon plaintiff, failing to follow the standard care …" As a result, Cage alleges she was "rendered sick, sore, lame and disabled."

A source tells TMZ Cage went in for breast augmentation, a tummy tuck and lipo.

In yet another medical malpractice lawsuit against Dr. Jan Adams, and this one is eerie.

Bonita Hovey claims in December 2005, Dr. Adams and other doctors performed a tummy tuck on her and botched the job.

According to the suit, filed in Orange County Superior Court, Hovey claims Adams and the others "negligently failed to possess and exercise, in both diagnosis and treatment, that reasonable degree of knowledge and skill that is ordinarily possessed and exercised by other physicians and surgeons …"

The suit claims the defendants "failed to give the plaintiff proper preoperative and postoperative follow up care … " resulting in a "postoperative infection" that caused her to undergo two surgeries to remove sutures and revise her scar.

The suit claims Adams made a "false assertion that he was a board certified plastic surgeon" and she relied on that representation in choosing him.

In yet another malpractice lawsuit against Dr. Jan Adams, in which a patient claims she was deceived by Dr. Adams and Euclid Outpatient Surgery Center, because no one told her about all the malpractice claims against the doctor.

In a suit filed in Orange County Superior Court, Jana Beighle claims she went in for "a left breast capsulectomy." She says Adams was her doctor, and she was never told he "had an undisclosed history of medical malpractice claims and judgments."

The suit claims after the surgery in August, 2005, Beighle suffered from fluid collection and had to have her implants removed.
