Jamie Lynn Spears boyfriend Casey Aldridge could be in big trouble for having sex with the teen star. But it all depends on whether he’s 18 or 19.

According to Louisiana state law, if a person who is 19 or older has consensual sex with a person who is older than 13 but less than 17, they could face felony carnal knowledge charges.

Jamie Lynn turned 16 in April, and while OK! magazine is claiming that her baby daddy, Casey Aldridge, is 18, other news outlets are stating that he is 19.

The Louisiana attorney general’s office said that, if Casey is 19 years old, he could face up to 10 years in jail and a $5,000 fine.

However, Deputy Sheriff Jimmy Travis of Tangipahoa Parish, La., where the Spears family lives, says that underage Jamie Lynn and her boyfriend didn’t break any state laws.

"From my preliminary investigation, she is 16 and he is 18," he tells the New York Post. "If, in fact, it happened in the state of Louisiana, that does not violate any criminal statutes." He said that while the age of consent is 17, officials don’t prosecute if the two are no more than 24 months apart in age.

It appears Casey is in the clear. Casey is officially 18 years-old.

Also making the news today, Nickelodeon star Lil’ Romeo is rumored to be Jamie Lynn Spears baby’s daddy. That’s straight up B.S.

Nickelodeon says they will finish shooting Zoey 101, and address the teenage pregnancy issue with their young viewers. Nickelodeon also says they may do an after the baby is born Zoey. They had better approach this whole issue very carefully. Any hint that they are condoning a 16 year-old having a baby could be a disaster for them.

Casey Aldridge Mississippi grandpa James Aldridge had a few words to say about his grandson getting mixed up with Jamie Lynn Spears:

"Jamie Lynn is a nice girl, I met her at Thanksgiving when Casey brought her here to my house. She was a sweet-looking thing but I only met her briefly before they went out hunting," the 71-year-old said.

"They’ve been dating for a couple of years. Of course, I support my grandson in this as I would with anything. But in my book, sex at 16, I don’t think it’s right. Casey was raised in the church and this really breaks my heart."

"He should make an honest woman of her and make it all above board by getting married," James Aldridge said of the best way for his devout-Christian grandson to make up for his big mistake.

Grandpa is absolutely right. Casey should marry Jamie Lynn. She’s got a million dollar deal for baby pictures, and Casey will be asked to be in the pictures, so he deserves some money too. Besides, if Jamie Lynn has the same addictive personality as Britney, and becomes a bad mother, then Casey can take custody of the kids, and get paid for it like Kevin Federline. Jamie could end up exactly like her big sister.

Casey Aldridge uncle Odus Jackson, who is a retired Baptist preacher, says that Casey is a "fine young man." (A little horny, but still a find young man, or as some would say young, dumb, and full of something that rhymes with gum) Uncle Odus says he only met Jamie Lynn once on Thanksgiving of this year. As for news of her pregnancy, he says he found out, like the rest of us, on Tuesday night. He tells us the family was "shocked’ and yet "we aren’t." As a pastor, Uncle Odus says he’s seen "this type of thing" more often than he’d like.

So even though Odus met Jamie on Thanksgiving, Jamie still told the press she "did not have a serious boyfriend," around the same time. Casey must mean the world to Jamie Lynn Spears.

Last evening Life&Style reported that Casey Aldridge and Jamie Lynn Spears had broken up, but I didn’t believe it. Now I find Casey confirmed the split on his MySpace. Of course, I am assuming this is his MySpace page, but I’m not so sure it is because it says he is 17 years-old, when in fact Casey is 19 years-old. If it really is his MySpace page then maybe it is true then that Casey and Jamie have already broken up. Maybe it’s also true that Casey isn’t the father of the baby. Jamie Lynn did say recently she has "lots of guy friends," and "no serious boyfriend." Lynne Spears must be so proud to have a grandbaby with so many daddies. I’m still not completely convinced Casey and Jamie Lynn have broken up unless they say so themselves. In fact there is zero evidence to support a breakup, especially since both Casey and Jamie Lynn’s families have all been speaking out about the pregnancy.

Jamie Lynn Spears shocked everyone when it was discovered she and Casey Aldridge were expecting a baby. In an interview with the Associated Press shortly before Thanksgiving, the 16-year-old Jamie Lynn said she did not have a serious boyfriend. Jamie Lynn said:

"I kind of just keep my options open. I have a bunch of friends that I always hang out with, a bunch of guy friends."

In the same interview, Jamie Lynn. who said she eventually wants to study at Louisiana State University, added that she had no plans to follow in Britney’s footsteps and move to L.A. "No! Never will," she said, laughing, when asked if she’d ever leave her Kentwood, Louisiana, home. "It’s, you know, it’s my friends," she says. "It’s where I grew up. I want to stay here."

Jamie Lynn lied and deceived a lot of people. Not a good way to start off motherhood, and not a good example to set for her new baby, but that was the way she was raised, so we can’t blame or criticize her, right? WRONG. If Jamie Lynn’s parents won’t explain what right and wrong is, then the public will provide the peer pressure to try to set her straight. We’ve tried to do that with Britney, but she’s too stubborn to listen to anyone. There are also those people that say, "just leave her alone." Those people don’t seem to realize, leaving girls like Britney and Jamie Lynn alone, just rewards them for negative behavior, and allows them to become a negative example for girls who are growing up to become mothers of a generation of children they will raise to continue the same bad behavior. At the very least, Nickelodeon needs to fire Jamie Lynn, so she won’t negatively influence kids watching that show. Getting fired won’t be such a bad thing for Jamie Lynn since she likes to "keep her options open."
