Jade Goody (27), who is terminally ill with cancer, was shocked on Sunday afternoon when a female intruder wielding a hammer confronted the her in her hospital room in London’s Royal Marsden hospital.

Jack Tweed, Jade’s new husband, had just taken a break from sitting with her when the woman with the hammer entered Jade’s room. The woman was later arrested, then released "on the advice of lawyers." Huh? Why?

Jade and her sons had just been baptized the day before.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said:

"Police were called on Sunday and arrested a woman in possession of an offensive weapon. She was taken into custody at a west London police station. Following the advice of Crown Prosecution Service the 41-year-old woman was release with no further action."

Offensive weapon? How about lethal weapon. Was it a real hammer or a toy? Why did they let the woman go without getting a psychiatric evaluation first?

After the hammer incident Jade received a call from Michael Jackson, but she missed it because she was sleeping. Jade’s rep said:

"He called [Michael Jackson] to say I’m thinking of you. Jermaine’s told me all about you, and you are all over the media in America.’"

"He said he hoped she could come and see the show while he is London. It was lovely. She said to me, ’Who would have thought it?’ But I told her you have started to realize, Jade, it’s gone all over the world. It was great for her spirits."

Despite all the incredible difficulty terminal illness brings, Jade has shown she has real courage, and is setting a great example for her sons, plus making some money so they will be cared for when she is gone.

A friend of Jade Goody says her cervical cancer has spread to her brain, and doctors have told her she has only weeks to live:

“Jade was told while in a hospice at the weekend that the cancer was travelling freely in her blood and had spread to her brain. This is, of course, awful but not unexpected. She has already been told the disease is terminal. But by understanding how it is travelling in her body, the doctors have a chance of giving her the right medication to control the pain. This hasn’t shortened her life expectancy, which remains at weeks. But of course it is another extremely painful reminder of what lies ahead. Jade still wants to go home, but won’t until she can be given the correct medication to make her condition bearable. She doesn’t want to see her kids upset.”

We’ve seen Jade on her worst behavior, but we can’t help but feel sorry for the pain and suffering her sons, and family must be experiencing, in addition to Jade’s own pain. We hope Jade passes peacefully, and painlessly.

Terminally ill with cancer Jade Goody married her boyfriend Jack Tweed. After the wedding Jade said:

"I’ve had the happiest day of my life. Now I’m ready to go to Heaven."

Our hearts go out to Jade’s family, especially to Jade’s sons Freddy Goody (4) and Bobby Goody (5).

Jade Goody, who has stage 3 cervical cancer that has metastasized, was told her chemotherapy will last about a year, rather than a few months. Doctors give her a 50/50 chance to survive.

Jade is understandably concerned she won’t be there while her children grow up.

Jade Goody (27) underwent and 8 hour hysterectomy, which found that her cervical cancer had spread to a muscle behind her uterus. Doctors say Goody’s cancer is at stage III. Before surgery doctors said the cancer had a 95% chance of remission, however, now they have dropped expectations to 50%.

Her publicist Max Clifford said after the operation Goody will remain in intensive care for 24 hours, after which doctors will tell her the bad news. Doctors now says Goody will need to undergo a nine-week course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy to eradicate any remaining cancer cells.

The one small bit of good news is that surgeons left Goody’s ovaries intact so she won’t go into menopause following her hysterectomy.
