Ellen DeGeneres To Host 79th Academy Awards

It was announced today Ellen DeGeneres will host the 79th Annual Academy Awards. DeGeneres has previously hosted the Grammys twice and the Emmys twice.
The two-time Daytime Emmy winner for Outstanding Talk Show Host will follow in the footsteps of Jon Stewart, Chris Rock, Billy Crystal, Steve Martin and Whoopi Goldberg; the last five Oscar hosts.
The 2007 Academy Awards will be presented on February 25, 2007 from the Kodak Theater in Hollywood and broadcast on ABC.
In 1997 DeGeneres was the recipient of the Peabody Award as well as earning an Emmy for writing the critically acclaimed “Puppy Episode” in which her character came out as a gay woman. DeGeneres followed with the CBS sitcom, “The Ellen Show,” which ran from 2001 to 2002.
Ellen DeGeneres In Car Accident Involving Alleged Drunk Driver

I hope this doesn’t mean we won’t be able to see K-Dud perform after the Labor Day holiday on the Ellen DeGeneres show. Here’s more:
According to police, comedienne Ellen DeGeneres was in a car accident Friday afternoon, when her stopped car was reportedly hit from behind by a car that was itself struck by an alleged drunk driver.
According to LAPD Spokesperson Jason Lee, DeGeneres and a passenger that appears to be her girlfriend, actress Portia de Rossi, were stopped at a red light at the corner of Sunset & Laurel heading east on Sunset in a 2006 Porsche Carrera. A 2002 Buick LeSabre was stopped behind them. The Buick was struck by a third car, a 2002 Porsche Carrera, driven by an alleged drunk driver identified as a 52-year-old woman.
The stopped Buick was then allegedly pushed from behind into Ms. DeGeneres’ car, moderately damaging the back of her Porsche.
The alleged drunk driver was arrested and charged with a DUI.
Both Ms. DeGeneres and her passenger complained of pain to their backs and necks.
