Eddie Van Halen Back in Rehab

Eddie Van Halen is in detox for a week, and then will attempt to continue the band tour dates. The National Enquirer says the 53-year-old guitarist checked himself into a clinic near San Antonio, Texas, so he could detox for a week after a furious backstage bust-up in Florida with his 17-year-old son and bandmate Wolfgang. An insider said:
"It was the big what-if of the tour – whether Eddie could stay sober."
"Wolf hates it when his dad drinks. He knew Eddie was drunk onstage that night, and was acting cold to him, which set Eddie off. Eddie went beserk and started yanking guitar cables from the pedal boards and throwing cigarettes around onstage."
"At the end of the concert, Eddie was so mad at Wolf, he punched the amp speaker, knocking it over."
This is a good example of how devastating alcoholism is, and it starts with just one innocent drink.
Van Halen Back on Tour

Earlier this morning HG reported that Van Halen had cancelled the remainder of their tour, and hotel reservations through April 19. Live Nation, the company behind the tour, says that Eddie Van Halen is undergoing a battery of comprehensive medical tests to determine a defined diagnosis and recommended medical procedures. Live Nation says the dates are rescheduled starting April 24. Eddie looked drunk in the video we showed you earlier today, but there is concern over liver damage as well, which could produce similar symptoms.
Van Halen Cancels Tour
Van Halen has canceled remaining tour dates through April 19th. According to sources, the reason for the cancellation is that Eddie is having "issues." When Van Halen played Fort Lauderdale on 2-20-2008, Eddie looked like he was drunk, and could hardly play his guitar. Eddie was in rehab just prior to the tour, and now he’ll probably be going back.
