Dr. Jan Adams Has a Very Long Legal History

TMZ did a lot of digging, and found that Dr. Jan Adams has lawsuits for malpractice, injury, restraining orders, sexual assault, and more in his past. How was it possible this guy could continue to practice medicine? He says he did "nothing wrong." He definitely did something wrong according to his own words.
Dr. Jan Adams once hosted a show called "The Other Half" — where he talked about how things never go wrong immediately following surgery, but instead weeks and months after. Oops.
As we all now know, Kanye West’s mother, Dr. Donda West, died a day after going under Adams’ knife for a tummy tuck and breast reduction. Click here to see the video.

Jan Adams Mugshot

Dr. Jan Adams was arrested and booked on March 31, 2006, after pleading no contest to DUI. This was his second drunk driving conviction. This mug shot was taken after Adams turned himself in on December 29, 2006. He was released the next day. In March 2006 arrest, he was arrested in September 2002 after his vehicle lost control and hit a parked car. At the time, Dr. Jan Adams told officers on the scene that he lost control of his car when another vehicle failed to stop for a traffic signal. He was unable to provide a description of that car.
All this may make Dr. Adams look bad personally, and causes one to question his decision making skills, but it doesn’t make him guilty of anything related to the death of his patient Donda West, Kanye West’s mom. However, doing surgery on her twice as long as it normally takes, and then not referring her to a skilled recovery facility like a hospital even though she was high risk for complications, does raise a lot of red flags.
Dr. Adams has also been sued for malpractice twice, and lost twice. Click the link below to read more about Dr. Adams long legal history.
Jan Adams May Have Put Donda West at Great Risk

Dr. Jan Adams is in big trouble after the death of his patient Donda West, who is Kanye West’s mom. TMZ reports:
The Medical Board of California filed legal papers last April asking to revoke or suspend Dr. Jan Adams’ medical license because he was convicted of multiple DUIs, one in 2006, another in 2003. TMZ has also turned up a 1994 DUI conviction.
In the accusation, the Executive Director of the Medical Board states Adams "has used alcohol to the extent or in such a manner as to be dangerous or injurious to himself and others…"
Dr. Jan Adams told TMZ last night that he "did nothing wrong" in operating on Donda West.
Oprah is being dragged into this scandal too. Click here to see Dr Adams appearance on Oprah.
In November of 2003, Dr. Jan Adams — the plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye West’s mom before her death — appeared on an episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
According to his bio, Adams has made "countless appearances" on television — including serving as host for a show on the Discovery Channel called "Plastic Surgery: Before and After."
He also co-hosted NBC’s The Other Half with Dick Clark, Danny Bonaduce, and Mario Lopez.
The most incriminating evidence is that the surgery took twice as long as it should have, which put Donda West, who was already a risky surgical candidate at much great risk of having complications, but Dr Jan Adams maintains he did nothing wrong.
Sources tell TMZ Donda West’s operation lasted eight hours — twice as long as it should have. We’re told Dr. Jan Adams began the operation Friday morning and finished Friday evening. He then sent Ms. West home, rather than to a recovery center, which we’re told, would have been appropriate.
Several doctors at Centinela Hospital where West was taken, tell TMZ they believe the excessive amount of time it took to perform the procedure strongly suggests either something went wrong during the operation or the doctor was just too inexperienced.
We’re told she was dead the next evening at her home before paramedics arrived.
What’s more, Dr. Adams is not Board Certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
The only part of this that is relevant on the day of the surgery is that the surgery itself took twice as long as is normally expected, and after what are suspected to already be complications during surgery, Dr Adams still sent Donda West home, rather than to a recovery facility, or even a hospital where she could be properly treated. Dr Adams may face a wrongful death lawsuit, and his medical license may be revoked or suspended.
Donda West Plastic Surgeon Jan Adams Speaks

Donda West’s plastic surgeon has come forward saying he did nothing wrong before fingers start pointing at him. TMZ reports:
Plastic surgeon Dr. Jan Adams has told TMZ that he was the doctor who performed cosmetic surgery on Kanye West’s mother Donda before she died.
Dr. Adams told TMZ her death, which followed a tummy tuck and breast reduction, was unforeseen and could have been caused by a heart attack, pulmonary embolism, or massive vomiting.
Dr. Adams tells TMZ West consulted with him over a period of four months. He says she changed her mind numerous times, sometimes green-lighting the surgery and sometimes halting it.
As for the TMZ report that Beverly Hills doctor, Andre Aboolian, refused to conduct the surgery because of a medical condition that West had, Dr. Adams said of Dr. Aboolian, "He is sleazy and manipulating the truth to elevate his own importance."
If Donda had a medical condition that made her a high risk patient, then Dr. Jan Adams should have declined the COSMETIC surgery. Doing multiple cosmetic surgical procedures increases the risk of mortality even in healthy patients, so if Dr. Jan Adams knew Donda had a medical condition that already increased her risk, and he agreed to do two procedures at once, then he should be held liable for the outcome, which was her death. Kanye West would have legal grounds, in my opinion, to file a wrongful death lawsuit. Kanye’s lawyers are no doubt assessing the situation.

Kanye West Releases a Statement About His Mom

Kanye West released the following statement regarding his mother Dr. Donda West who passed away on Saturday after complications from cosmetic surgery:
"Kanye West, his family and friends would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and kind words that have come in from across the country since the death of his mother, Dr. Donda West.
After working in higher education for 31 years, Dr. Donda West and Kanye West co-founded the Kanye West Foundation with the mission of helping to combat the severe dropout problem in high schools across the country. The first and signature initiative of the Kanye West Foundation is Loop Dreams. Designed to capitalize on students’ existing interest in hip-hop, Loop Dreams challenges students to learn more about what’s behind hip-hop culture in order to help them develop skills, express themselves creatively and be empowered.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dr. West’s name to the Kanye West Foundation/Loop Dreams Teacher Training Institute. Those donations can be made by visiting the Foundation’s website, www.kanyewestfoundation.org or by mail at Kanye West Foundation, 8560 W. Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90069."
Kanye is turning tragedy into something positive. Kanye just made himself a good role model, and a good example. Plus he is honoring his mother’s memory. His foundation must be something really special, like his mother. Your mother would be proud of you Kanye.
