Morgan Freeman and his now estranged wife of 24 years, Myrna Colley-Lee, are getting divorced. Morgan and Myrna have been separated since December of 2007. This explains why Freeman had Demaris Meyer in his car at the time of his accident, pictured below, on August 3rd.

Morgan Freeman (71) was injured in a serious car accident in Mississippi last night about 11:30 PM. He was airlifted from the accident scene to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Reports say he wasn’t drunk.

Freeman’s condition is unknown at this time, but he was talking at the accident scene.

Freeman was driving on Highway 32 in Tallahatchie County when he apparently lost control, flipping his car several times. The accident may have ocurred after he "fell asleep at the wheel."

WHBQ in Memphis is reporting Freeman was on his way home to Charleston when the smash-up happened. Bill Luckett, Freeman’s friend and co-owner of Freeman’s restaurant Madidi, said his buddy was sitting up and talking at the hospital.

A source says Freeman has broken several ribs, injured his knee, and broke his arm and shoulder. His female passenger, Demaris Meyer, had to be cut out of the car using the Jaws of Life. A source says she’s suffering from bumps and bruises, but is in "all in all in good condition."
