A guy named David Kuntz was pulled over on May 23 by Canadian police speeding, because of an allergic reaction to nuts, and was trying to get medical help. He told police he was David Lee Roth.

Kuntz was caught when several people saw a picture of him in the paper, and called police. Kuntz used to play in a band called Majesty back in the 1980s, and his classmates said he was often mistaken for Roth.

A story that circulated earlier this week, supposedly supported by actual interviews with two Canadian police officers, and claimed cops had to save David Lee Roth’s life after he went into anaphylactic shock from eating nuts. Roth said:

"I was in Canada only from July first through the fourth for a performance at the Quebec City Summer Festival. I had no encounters or incidents with the police. The only thing I’m allergic to is criticism. — Love, Dave"

David Lee Roth has a very severe nut allergy, which caused him to drive his car, and luckily attracted the attention of cops. Here’s the story:

Two Ontario police officers have been credited with saving the life of Van Halen singer David Lee Roth – after he suffered a severe allergic reaction.

The rocker was pulled over on a stretch of highway in Oakland, Ontario on June 8 for speeding, and when cops approached the vehicle, they realized the star was in anaphylactic shock.

Roth has an allergy to nuts and was suffering a severe reaction after coming into contact with a contaminated substance.

The officers called an ambulance and kept Roth calm until paramedics arrived on the scene, according to CTV.ca.

Constable Chris Thompson admits he didn’t realize that he was dealing with a famous rock star when he attended to the crisis.

He says, "At the time I wasn’t star struck, I was just trying to help him. The guy stuck out like a sore thumb. He was wearing a little silk scarf and flashy clothing – it’s not something you see in Oakland too often."

For once it seems, cops on the lookout for speeders finally saved a real life.

According to Page Six, Roth would reward security at his shows for delivering the girls he pointed out. He devised a tracking system involving labeled backstage passes so he could keep track of which staffer should get credit for a particular chick and reward the guy with $100.
