David Cook Performs for his Sick Brother

The American Idol judges gave David Cook high marks for his performance of Always Be My Baby. Randy gave him a standing ovation, and even Simon said David is ready for a recording contract. David Cook may just win American Idol. Tonight Cook’s brother, who is dying from brain cancer, was able to be in the audience to see his brother perform.

During a commercial break, David walked down to hug his brother Adam in his seat. All three judges, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, also hugged Adam.

David Cook Rushed to the Hospital

David Cook was not feeling well after his performance in the video above. Medics from American Idol checked David out, and found his blood pressure was dangerously high, and he was having heart palpitations. David would not leave for the hospital until after the show was over. David was driven to the hospital, and chose not to go by ambulance. A doctor treated David with medication to lower his blood pressure.

According to an executive from American Idol, David’s brother has cancer, and he was doing worse over the past week, so David has been very stressed out. Stress doesn’t usually cause this kind of blood pressure spike alone, so David should really see a doctor for follow up before he ends up having a stroke.

David’s performance above was amazing despite his feeling ill.
