Cynthia Nixon Survived Breast Cancer

Cynthia Nixon, pictured here with Christine Marinoni at a NYC benefit, battled breast cancer. Her mother battled breast cancer when Cynthia was 12 years-old, and even her grandmother battled breast cancer.
Cynthia said she had gone for her "completely routine mammogram" in 2006 when she got a call from her gynecologist. Her doctor said, "Well I have some, it’s not such great news."
Cynthia said she felt "scared … I was very cognizant of it. If it’s going to happen, this is the best way for it to happen, that it’s found so early, and we can just get right on it."
A monthly breast exam, and annual mammogram are the best defense to finding the cancer early.
Cynthia said she "made a big point" of telling her two children she had the disease. "I basically told them they found some cancer in my right breast. It’s very small and it’s very early. I’m going to have an operation, they’re going to take it out, and then we’re going to have six-and-a-half weeks of radiation, every weekday. This is what grandma went through, and I’m going to be fine."
That’s a lot for kids to handle.
Cynthia said she kept her diagnosis private because "I didn’t want paparazzi at the hospital. As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, knowing my personal risk made me more aware and more empowered when I faced my own diagnosis."
Next year Cynthia will become the spokesperson for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. There is a lot of support for breast cancer, but let’s not forget another leading cancer, and that is prostate cancer.
Cynthia Nixon Opens Up About Being a Lesbian
Posted on March 6, 2008 at 10:27 am (PST)
Cynthia Nixon has been having a 4-year lesbian relationship with Christine Marinoni, but hasn’t talked much about it until now. The two live in Brooklyn together with Cynthia’s two kids. Cynthia ended her relationship with her children’s daddy the same year she hooked up with Christine. Cynthia told OK! Magazine:
"I’m in a fantastic relationship. It’s been about four years. I’m in love with [Christine] because she’s her. If she were a man, would I be in love with her? I don’t know. We shop and cook and raise children - we both pitch in."
Cynthia said her kids were okay with her coming out as a lesbian:
"My son was very little [when it happened], but my daughter has a gay uncle [and her godmothers] are lesbians."
What choice did the kids have? It almost sounds like Cynthia believes it runs in the family, so it’s totally natural. If you’re going to choose to be gay after being heterosexual and having kids, at least she could have chosen a woman that looks like a woman, and not an ugly man. In my opinion Cynthia chose to be a lesbian. Real lesbians are born that way, they don’t go out and have kids with a man, then suddenly wake up and realize they’re a lesbian. When was Cynthia living a lie, when she was having babies with a man, or now that she’s living with a woman?
Is Cynthia a real lesbian?
Sex and the City Movie Coming Soon

Sex and the City, the movie, has been rumored for a while now, but none of the previous stars would agree do anything. Now it seems they’ve all realized they don’t have any other work, so they’ve all signed on for the movie. Shooting is slated to begin in mid-September with Sex symbols Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, and Kim Cattrall, reprising their signature roles.
This is a toss up for me. I’m not sure what they could do in the movie that would cause people to pay big bucks to see it on the big screen. Would you watch this movie?
