ti sentenced to one year in prison T.I. Sentenced to 1 Year in Jail

T.I., aka Clifford Harris, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison for violating his probation by illegally possessing machine guns and silencers.

T.I. was able to make a plea agreement with prosecutors to do community service in order to get his sentence reduced. He originally faced 20 years in prison. T.I. completed more than 1,000 hours of community service.

David Nahmias, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, said in a statement T.I.’s community service exceeded prosecutors’ expectations and that "there is still more to come when he gets out of prison."

U.S. District Judge Charles Pannell agreed to ask prison officials to have T.I. surrender in the coming weeks but not before May 19.

The rapper, who has a 1998 crack cocaine conviction that made it illegal for him to own guns, pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing machine guns and silencers and possession of firearms by a convicted felon.

T.I., who is a father of six also starred alongside Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe in the 2007 movie American Gangster.

ti bet T.I. is Going to Jail

Rapper T.I. was expected to plead guilty Thursday to federal weapons charges and will face prison time. T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, was expected to be sentenced to 1,500 hours of community service talking to youth groups around the country, followed by about 12 months in prison.

He was charged with possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, as well as possession of firearms by a convicted felon. He faced a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count.

Harris was allegedly trying to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers. He initially pleaded not guilty, and has been under house arrest since he was released on $3 million bond Oct. 26.

T.I. is already a convicted multiple felon, but he got a slap on the wrist. Money and celebrity talks. The courts send a terrible message to those who are not living a life of priviledge.
