Black Crowes singer, Chris Robinson, 39, has filed for divorce from his wife of five and a half years, actress, Kate Hudson, 27, in Los Angeles Superior Court.
In official court documents, Robinson cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the dissolution of the marriage. The singer is seeking joint custody of the couple’s son, Ryder, 2, and is not requesting spousal support.
Robinson and Hudson announced they were separating on August 14 of this year after rumors began to spread that Hudson was involved with her You, Me and Dupree costar, Owen Wilson.
In a case of life imitating art, Hudson married her rock star husband at 21 following her successful turn as a beautiful groupie in the the movie, Almost Famous. Robinson was 12 years her senior.
The singer has retained divorce attorney to the stars, Laura Wasser. Wasser is the same lawyer that has represented Nick Lachey, and Angelina Jolie. She is also currently representing Britney Spears in her divorce from her husband, Kevin Federline.
While Robinson was recently spotted kissing a mystery brunette, Hudson has been half a world away in Australia shooting the comedy Fool’s Gold with her former How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days costar, Matthew McConaughey.

Kate Hudson to Buy Chris Robinson a House
Posted on October 18, 2006 at 2:55 pm (PST)
Chris Robinson has at least one thing to look forward to now that his soon-to-be ex-wife Kate Hudson is dating her You, Me and Dupree co-star Owen Wilson. An insider said that Kate has been actively searching around the Malibu canyon area, not far from her own home, for a new house to buy Chris. “Kate feels like Chris was very generous throughout their relationship and that buying him a house is the least that she can do for him,†the insider says, adding that Chris doesn’t have the money it would take to buy the kind of real estate Kate is looking at.
Sounds as if Kate has a soft side, right? Maybe. But the insider says the new digs are less for Chris and more for their 2-year-old son, Ryder. “Kate wants Ryder to have a nice place to go stay when he’s spending time with his dad,†the insider says. So far all the homes the couple shared while they were together belong to Kate, the insider adds.

Kate Hudson Stays Civil with ex Chris Robinson
Posted on August 21, 2006 at 7:05 pm (PST)
After announcing their separation last week, Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson had their first public outing together with their 2-year-old son Ryder in Los Angeles on Sunday.
As they say, the couple that sleeps around while still married totally maintains a friendship for the kid after they split. Also, I think we’re gonna have to just get used to that kid’s hair. Rumor says it’s a religious thang and his locks won’t get chopped until he turns a manly three this January. I’m just happy to see Kate and Chris acting like good parents, and not let their differences come between the children and the children’s access to their parents. I hope this behavior doesn’t change.
Also trying to keep the rumor dam from busting wide open is Owen Wilson:
Owen has called on the services of Hollywood’s big legal man, Martin Singer, to start proceedings against anyone who even suggests that Kate and hubby Chris Robinson’s split was down to him.
Days after Kate announced the end of her six-year marriage to the Black Crowes singer, rumors surfaced in the States that Owen and Kate were dating.
However, spokespeople for both stars refused to confirm the reports, with Owen’s people saying: “(Anything) that suggests that the separation of Ms Hudson was caused by Mr Wilson… is absolutely false.”
