Mickey Rourke knocks out Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 25

Mickey Rourke and Chris Jericho have been battling since Rourke called out Jericho on the red carpet months ago, then in January the pair had harsh words for each other on Larry King Live, but tonight Jericho was defeated by Rourke.
After announcing to Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell at the Screen Actors Guild Awards that he would be at Wrestlemania 25, then later backing out, the "Wrestler" star stepped into the ring to take on WWE star Chris Jericho on Sunday in Houston.
Rourke told a WWE reporter hours before the match:
“Contractually, because I’m doing this movie called Iron Man 2 now, I can’t get in the ring with Jericho.”
A feud had been brewing between Rourke and Jericho for weeks, with the wrestler calling out the actor’s friends, wrestling legends Ric Flair, Roddy Piper and Ricky Steamboat, during previous events. Rourke said before the event tonight:
“Jericho had made a comment that, that wrestler movie he made, that’s not my story, and he can say all the s*** he wants about my friends Ric Flair, Roddy Piper and Ricky Steamboat, these guys that he’s talking about, I’ve got a lot of respect for and I’ve got a lot of love for. They’re my friends and I think any one of them on any given night could kick Jericho’s a**.”
Flair, Piper and Steamboat got in the ring along with fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Snuka, where they were defeated by Jericho before Rourke’s entrance. After punching out Jericho to close out the match, Rourke was joined by Ric in celebration.
Wrestlemania fans certainly got quite a show tonight.
Mickey Rourke Will Not Wrestle Chris Jericho
Mickey Rourke went on Larry King Live last night to promote his movie The Wrestler. Earlier Rourke had said he would wrestle Chris Jericho in Arpil. Rourke’s actual words were:
"You [Chris Jericho] better get in shape because I’m coming after your a$$."
After Rourke faced a pissed off Jericho on Larry King Live, Rourke’s rep issued the following statement:
"Mickey was very honored to be asked, as he has the greatest respect for WWE. However, he will not be participating in WrestleMania. He is focusing entirely on his acting career."
Exactly as Jericho said. Rourke is an actor who played a wrestler. Let’s keep it that way, before someone gets hurt.
About the same time the news came out that Rourke had backed out of the wrestling match Evan Rachel Wood, who was seen making out with Rourke at a Screen Actors Guild Awards show after-party last weekend, issued this statement via Rolling Stone:
"I’m upset because I feel disrespected by the press and by Mr. Rourke. Just because I’m single doesn’t mean that you can take advantage of me. It’s unfair that the performances might suffer because of all of these distractions. I’m not attracted to him, he’s too old for me. Nothing ever happened and nothing ever will."
OUCH! We don’t believe her, but okay, whatever. Rourke is still more of a man than Marilyn Manson.
