Rosie O’Donnell says she had a heart attack after helping an enormously fat woman get out of her car. Here’s how People said it:
O’Donnell said her own health problems started on Aug. 14 after she helped “an enormous woman” struggling to get out of her car in a parking lot in Nyack, N.Y.
A few hours later, her chest ached, both arms felt sore as if they were bruised, she became nauseous, and had clammy skin.
“maybe this is a heart attack,” she wrote. “i googled womens heart attack symptoms/i had many of them/but really? – i thought – naaaa.”
She took the aspirin recommended for people who think they are suffering a heart attack but didn’t call 911. She said that hundreds of thousands of women die each year of heart attacks and that many never dial the emergency number.
“by some miracle i was not one of them,” she wrote, adding: “know the symptoms ladies/listen to the voice inside/the one we all so easily ignore/CALL 911/save urself.”
Although Rosie totally fits the morbidly obese profile of a woman her age that is likely to have a heart attack or a stroke, it could also be her gallbladder causing those same symptoms, or esophageal reflux. It’s just like Rosie to recommend everyone call 911, but not go see her doctor after such an alarming health scare. Right now though, Rosie is preoccupied making sure the world knows there is a woman in town who is bigger and fatter than she is, but she’s not looking for attention, even though she blogged about it, and asked everyone to retweet.
Aimee Copeland (24) was trying out a homemade zip line along the Little Tallapoosa River near Carrollton, Texas on May 1st when it broke, and she fell into the water about 6 feet below cutting open her calf on the rocks. She went to the doctor who closed the wound with stitches, which then cut off all the oxygen to the internal tissue allowing an extremely rare flesh eating bacteria that lives in water called Aeromonas hydrophila to start growing out of control causing a condition called necrotizing fasciitis.
As of today surgeons amputated her leg, and will likely cut off her fingers and other foot, to prevent the infection from spreading further. She is also breathing with the assistance of a ventilator. On average 60 percent of patients die from this rare infection. Her father Andy Copeland told ABC affiliate WSB-TV:
“I couldn’t conceive of what it would be like for my daughter to lose her hands and the only other foot she has, as well, and that appears to be what is going to happen. The most important thing is my daughter is still alive.”
In 2009 Mariana Bridi da Costa (20), who represented Brazil in the Miss World beauty pageant, contracted another more common but still rare bacterial infection, lost her hands and feet in an attempt to save her life, but she still died.
All that can done now is for everyone to provide Aimee with the lifelong support she will need if she survives.
Life is a precious gift. Don’t take it for granted even for a day.

Warren Buffett (81) has stage 1 prostate cancer, which is very curable. He said it “is not remotely life-threatening or even debilitating in any meaningful way.” Buffett says he will be given short term radiation treatment. Louis Potters, chairman of radiation medicine at North Shore-LIJ in New York said:
“A good number of men with low risk cancer of the prostate can be observed without needing to be treated.”
Other experts said at Buffett’s age radiation treatment is not necessary for stage 1 prostate cancer. His cautious approach could be attributed to the new Buffett Rule which is “Stay alive.”
Ryan O’Neal was just diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. In the 1990s he successfully recovered from another form of cancer called Myelogenous Leukemia. He has also had a double knee replacement years ago. He issued a statement saying:
“Recently I was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer.”
“Although I was shocked and stunned by the news, I feel fortunate that it was detected early and according to my extraordinary team of doctors the prognosis is positive for a full recovery.”
“I am deeply grateful for the support of my friends and family during this time, and I urge everyone to get regular check-ups, as early detection is the best defense against this horrible disease that has afflicted so many.”
Stage 4 cancer is usually the final stage, and is a stage where the cancer has spread to other parts of the body (metastasis), so it is usually fatal. While it is good that Ryan is being optimistic, I want to wish him well, and although hope is difficult in his situation, I hope he wins this battle as well.
Ryan will turn 71 years-old on April 20. Happy early birthday Ryan.
Update: A new report released on 4-16-2012 says Ryan has stage 2 prostate cancer, which is treatable, and makes more sense considering his optimistic statement.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney (71) is recovering from heart transplant surgery he had on Saturday in a Inova Fairfax Hospital in Northern Virginia. The surgery was necessary after five confirmed heart attacks severely damaged his heart. He was put on the donor list 20 months ago after receiving a left ventricular assist device. The heart’s left ventricle pumps 75% of the blood, so that only assisting that part of the heart can keep a person alive, provided they don’t get a blood clot.
The identity of the donor was not announced, because it never is. I’d like to know when Dick went hunting last. The last time he shot one of his friends in the face, this time he may have come back with a new heart.
Robot Chicken featured a Dick Cheney as Iron Man skit, which seemed appropriate. (video below)
With all this talk of new hearts, and it not even being Valentine’s Day, I thought a Micaela Schaefer bikini gallery could help kick Dick’s heart into gear so he can get sarted saving the world.
