Las Vegas performer Danny Gans died on May 1. A family member had called 911 saying Danny was having trouble breathing. The official cause of death is an overdose of hydromorphone, which is a powerful prescription pain killer.

Clark County Coroner Michael Murphy announced that Danny officially died from hydromorphone toxicity due to chronic pain syndrome, and that other contributing factors which include hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and another disease that caused him to produce an abnormal amount of red blood cells.

Murphy says the drug built up to deadly levels, not because of drug abuse, but rather because of chronic use for a real pain condition. The drug did not clear out of Danny’s system due to his illnesses. Doctors should have given Danny something else for his pain if they knew his body wasn’t filtering it out properly. Narcan should have been kept at home in case of a "trouble breathing" emergency, since doctors would have been aware of the risks of chronic use by Danny.

A picture of David Carradine appeared on the covered of a Thai tabloid called Thai Rath. The source of the photo appears to have been the Thai police, and the picture was taken by Thai police forensics.

The picture of Carradine shows him suspended from a bar in a closet, with his hands bound together above his head. It’s hard to commit suicide in this position.

The Carradine family say they are "profoundly disturbed" by the publication of the photo. Brother Keith Carradine released this statement:

"The family wants it understood that, per attorney Mark Geragos, any persons, publications or media outlets will be fully prosecuted for invasion of privacy and causing severe emotional distress if the photos are published."

There is low, and then there is completely disrespectful. The release of that picture is completely beyond words. Don’t expect the Thai police to solve this crime, especially after taking money for, and allowing the publication, of such a horrible picture. This only highlights how incompetent the Thai police are.

A big name actor like Carradine should have been assigned his own security by the movie production company.

David Carradine (72) was found dead in a Bangkok hotel room Wednesday.

Carradine was staying in Room 352 of the Park Nai Lert Hotel in the Thai Capital while shooting a movie, Stretch, according to The Nation, a Bangkok-based newspaper. Carradine failed to appear with the rest of the crew for dinner on Wednesday and could not be contacted.

On Thursday around 10 a.m. a maid discovered his body. Carradine was found hanging in a closet half-naked with a curtain-rope around his neck, according to more than one report, though no official cause of death has been released.

Binder, the actor’s manager, told the BBC he found the news "shocking" and added: "He was full of life, always wanting to work."

We are equally shocked. Carradine has always been one of our favorite actors, ever since he appeared as a wandering Shaolin monk in the 1970s television series Kung Fu. We can’t imagine him taking his own life.

The hit show Kung Fu was created by real martial arts star Bruce Lee, who was supposed to appear in the series he created, but was replaced with Carradine because producers were concerned about Asian prejudice at the time hurting the success of the show.

The daughter of Mike Tyson, Exodus, was pronounced dead yesterday after a what police are calling an accidental death. Tyson’s rep released this statement:

"We are grateful for the tremendous outpouring of love and prayers from all over the world. There are no words to describe the tragic loss of our beloved Exodus. We ask you now to please respect our need at this very difficult time for privacy to grieve and try to help each other heal."

Exodus died Tuesday in a Phoenix hospital after accidentally getting her neck wrapped in a cord from an exercise machine at home.

Exodus’s mother, whose name has not been released, was cleaning in another part of the house when she sent her 7-year-old son to the playroom to check on his sister. The boy found Exodus tangled in a cord dangling from a treadmill. He called for his mother, who dialed 911 and administered CPR.

The child, who had been on life support, was pronounced dead at 11:45 a.m. at St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center, says Phoenix police Sgt. Andy Hill.

Lucy Gordon, who appeared in Spiderman 3, hung herself in her Paris apartment on Wednesday while her boyfriend slept two days before her 29th birthday.

Gordon also appeared in John Cusack’s romantic vehicle Serendipity, The Four Feathers opposite the late Heath Ledger and the John Krasinski-directed Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, which debuted in January at the Sundance Film Festival.

Before her death, Gordon had completed Serge Gainsbourg (A Heroic Life), a biopic on the late French entertainer, in which she played the role of British thesp Jane Birkin.

French police say it was an obvious case of suicide so there will be no investigation, but there will be an autopsy.

There are always other options with a more positive outcome than suicide.
