John Woo Stuntman Burned Alive

A stuntman filming a scene for a new John Woo movie was burned alive in a bizarre accident during what should have been a routine stunt. Reuters reports:
At least three people were injured in the accident during the shooting of the battle epic, "Red Cliff".
"The fire broke out early Monday morning when the crew were shooting a scene in which a small, smoking boat crashed with a large ancient war vessel," Xinhua news agency said.
At the point of collision, at which machines let out smoke, an unchoreographed flame jumped 30 meters (yards) into the air, the Beijing News said, citing crew at the northern Beijing location.
Jackie Chan talked to Ellen about how little concern for safety there is when shooting stunts in Asia, as there is in Hollywood. Life is cheap in some countries, and so is the stuntman pay.

Yves Saint Laurent has Died

French designer Yves Saint Laurent died today at the age of 71 years-old. Laurent is best known for revolutionizing women’s fashion over the past 50 years, as well as salvaging the Christian Dior collection after Dior’s sudden death in 1957, and saving that company from financial disaster.
Laurent became ill last week, fell into a coma on Wednesday evening, and finally died today. The man was a living legend in the fashion industry.
Harvey Korman has Died

Harvey Korman (81) died last evening at UCLA Medical Center after suffering complications from the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm four months ago, his family said. He had undergone several major operations. Harvey’s daughter Kate Korman said:
"He was a brilliant comedian and a brilliant father. He had a very good sense of humor in real life."
Harvey had an operation in late January on a non-cancerous brain tumor and pulled through "with flying colors," Kate Korman said. Less than a day after coming home, he was re-admitted because of the ruptured aneurysm and was given a few hours to live. But he survived for another four months. Kate added:
"He fought until the very end. He didn’t want to die. He fought for months and months."
Mel Brooks said of Harvey:
"A world without Harvey Korman, it’s a more serious world. It was very dangerous for me to work with him because if our eyes met we’d crash to floor in comic ecstasy. It was comedy heaven to make Harvey Korman laugh."
It’s always sad when good people, who have brought so much joy to so many, pass away leaving a void to be filled.
Luc Bourdon Killed in Motorcycle Accident

Luc Bourdon (21), who plays Hockey with the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks, was killed Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle struck a tractor-trailer in his native northern New Brunswick.
Bourdon’s sister, Eve Bourdon, and his stepmother Maryse Godin both confirmed the death but declined further comment when reached at the family’s home in Shippagan.
Canucks general manager Mike Gillis said the organization was "deeply saddened" by the loss and extended his sympathies Bourdon’s family. He added:
"Luc was an extremely talented player with a bright future. He brought great passion to the game and was a valued team member on and off the ice. He will be greatly missed."
Bourdon was a member of the Canadian team that won gold at the 2006 world junior hockey championship in Vancouver and was named to the tournament all-star team.
He helped Canada win another gold at the 2007 world juniors in Sweden.
So sad to see such great talent burn so bright, then suddenly disappear.
