Like I said. "Brody got his name in the tabloids, and Nicole kept her name in the tabloids, so they both got what they wanted." According to X17, here’s what Nicole did after dumping Brody:

12:30 pm – dumped Brody in Malibu and headed for Beverly Hills
1:00 pm – met up with Paris Hilton at the Beverly Hills Hotel for about 10 minutes
1:10 pm – drove back to her dad’s (Lionel) house, where she and Paris rendez-vous again
1:20 pm – chatted with Paris about Brody breakup, Paris chats about Shanna bust up
3:15 pm – left dad’s house off to who-knows where and Paris goes shopping

Nicole Richie and Brody Jenner have called it quits.

Richie’s rep Nicole Perna confirms the break-up saying: "Nicole and Brody are no longer dating but remain close friends."

A source says that Richie initiated the breakup today at Jenner’s home in Malibu and that both Jenner, 23, and Richie, 25, agreed it was best to part ways.

"Nicole just wants to be single right now," says the source. "She felt it was a mistake to jump into a relationship so soon after her breakup with AM."

Brody got his name in the tabloids, and Nicole kept her name in the tabloids, so they both got what they wanted.

As Paris Hilton hung out backstage she couldn’t resist striking out at her former best friend, Richie. A spy reports, “Nicole and [boyfriend] Brody Jenner were sitting on the sofa in the green room when Paris walked in.” In front of LL Cool J, Jay-Z and others, “Paris ran up to Brody, threw her arms around his neck and squealed, ’Hello.’ She started whispering in his ear and kissing his neck – and Nicole was getting really mad.”

The final straw for Richie was when her beau “actually turned his back on her to talk some more with Paris.” Richie finally grabbed Jenner’s arm and hissed, “Let’s go!” Gee, we can hardly wait for next year’s awards – not!

Brodie Jenner below is overwhelmed by the photog attention, and signals them to stop taking pictures. It could be because he didn’t want his picture taken when he had just rolled out of bed and hadn’t shaved or washed his hair yet. Nicole doesn’t seem to even notice.

Kristin Cavallari, 19, has something to get off her chest: She’s over ex Brody Jenner. On August 24, the Laguna Beach star stepped out in L.A. in a t-shirt that read: YOU CAN HAVE HIM.

“She has completely moved on, and that says it all,” a Cavallari pal said. “She has had that shirt forever and finally had a reason to wear it.” The message was no doubt directed at Jenner’s new girlfriend, Nicole Richie, 24, who was by his side to celebrate his 23rd birthday at West Hollywood club Privilege on August 22 (where Cavallari made a cameo, but did not cross paths with Richie). Not that there’s any bad blood between the women.

Says a Cavallari insider: “Kristin thinks Nicole is really nice and is friendly with her.”

For his part, Jenner has his own take on the tee’s cryptic message. “I’m guessing she’s talking about her dog, Bentley, which she left at my house months ago,” he tells Us. “I’m happy to have him.”

Nicole Richie and Brody Jenner had dinner at Mr. Chow’s restaurant in Los Angeles. Like I said yesterday, these two are officially a couple. I hope Nicole gains some weight now. She looks happy so no more excuses. That dress is ugly though, but he doesn’t seem to care.
