Singer Mya, aka Mýa Marie Harrison, has broken her left foot, and will have to postpone her Broadway debut as Velma Kelly in the musical Chicago. Velma’s role is currently being played by Brenda Braxton, who may continue the role until Mya is able to begin her nine-week engagement. Producer Barry Weissler said:

"In the theater industry, we are sometimes forced to deal with circumstances beyond our control. But speaking for the entire `Chicago’ creative team, we all wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to experiencing her portrayal of Velma Kelly as soon as possible."
